I'm a work, listening to WLS over the internet. They're just playing a Ray Charles version of "America the Beautiful". Almost brought a tear to my eyes. RIP Ray! You were a great talent. |

We have a radio talk here in town that uses the America The Beautiful frequently. Today it DID bring a tear to my eye. Henrik, that's the first thing I thought of when I heard he died. Ray Charles, Blues and the Blues Brothers, what more could a guy want.... Thanks for the music Brother Ray. RIP Brad |

Love that Fender Rhodes, man. Listening to Ray taught me it wasn't how fast you played, it was how you played. |

In as much as I am a strong Ray Charles fan. I feel at ease knowing he left us with a musical legacy that will last forever. Now, the most humorous excerpt of his music I have ever heard was on KRTH (K-Earth 101) in LA back when Heidi Fleiss was going through the "Hollywood Madame" trials. Yep, you guessed it, they played "Heidi Heidi Heidi Heidi Hooooooo" before every news cast concerning the trial. So Smooth and too cool. What a Mellow Man he was. |

Don't know if I am but,I may be the only Singer/Musician that is on BWB site, I'd like to know, just to meet others. Nothing I can write can explain the loss I feel for my lifelong inspiration, Ray Charles. I had to work last Thurs.here in New Orleans, and it was the longest night of my music life. Both of me children are part of The US Army. My Daughter is the wife of a Major/Physician at Ft Lewis. My Son John Jr is, a veteran of the war in Iraq with,The 82nd Airborne, now home at Ft Bragg,NC. I will always cry when I hear,"Americe The Beautiful".God Bless you Ray, you have blessed us all!!Johnny Vindigni,Sr |

Vindigni, Do a search on the site here for the word guitar. You are not alone, music is another of the many threads that link many here together in so many ways. I'm not a singer/musician, but recently bought some guitars with the intention of learning to play them. (My singing though is probably best left for when riding solo down a desolate highway at 70mph late at night with the visor down.) |

Ray Charles was the best concert I ever went to. I wasn't even a fan, got free tickets and went with a bunch of fans. Hands down the best concert I've ever seen. |

well Vindigni, you may be the only full time Muscian on this BBS, but there are a ton of people w/ musical talent on this board, I myself have been playing guitar for 15 years, bass guitar for 8 years, piano 3 years(lessons when i was a kid). numerous garage bands (non more than just that). RIP RAY!, you will be missed. |

I play bass and sing a little in a band with my wife and some friends. Ray was pretty amazing. I was at a Webb Wilder, "Last of the Full Grown Men", concert Friday night in Savannah and he played "I Can't Stop Loving You" as a tribute to Ray- it was really great. Hugh |
