At Hal's parking lot I heard about Curt's little accident on I94, fortunately he did not get seriously hurt, just some road rash, but the frame got dinged up: edited by josé_quiñones on June 08, 2004 |

The ride over to Saulk Prairie was like the salmon swimming up the river, many began the journey but not as many made it there and back to East Troy in time for the Factory tour. Here are some shots taken along the route. Bob from Australia on his rented Blast and myself. He rode great except on the way back as we were doing slightly above the speed limit to get back to East Troy in time he ran out of gas and dropped off from the group and we were worried that he would not get to the plant. He did arrive slightly later than we did, and the back of the bike was coated with what looked like transmission fluid from the extended high speed running we had to do. Now that's an interesting sticker idea! |

OOPS, fixed it thanks! Now somebody please paint the curbing in front of the Buell plant entrance yellow or orange because I hit it leaned over at speed and it felt like I broke the front wheel. Fortunately nothing happened. I barely made it in to the plant with 10 minutes to spare, it was very interesting to see. We had dinner again and Erik and all the employees hung around and looked at our bikes and talked to us. Erik told us the gory details of his snowmobile accident, he's lucky he's alive from the way he described it. That's Erik and Kyle showing off their injuries. Erik and I had a good talk and he got to vent at me for some of the things I posted recently. Before we left for the East Troy town square, I got the shot I wanted: my Bike's homecoming. The ride to the town square was lead by the East Troy Police, one of which rode the following: The town pulled out all the stops, with politicians and the community band playing for us. Buells parked all the way around the square it was neat to see. We hung out, ate some Wisconsin Cream Puffs, then headed home to get some sleep and get ready for the Battletrax at Uke's More later... edited by josé_quiñones on June 08, 2004 |

Good pics Jose, Lake, Bomber and everyone !! Curt rode with us for most of the event and he never let that wreck slow him down, put more miles on than any of the rest of us !! His favorite saying was "It's all about the miles" !! CJ edited by cj xb on June 09, 2004 |

Jose, we were wondering what Bob from Australia was up to, been very concerned in fact. His wife wants to know why he has been posted on these pages as Mike from Australia. If any of you guys run into Bob, tell the mongrel to write home to prevent a divorce and more importantly to let all the Ozy Buellers who couldn't attend the gossip/news. He's the passion behind Buell in Australia getting BRAG for all in Oz. A good bloke he is, look after him for us will ya. Oh yeah, thanx for the pics, he appears to be still alive and kicking. Did you stick it in? No Jose, did something interesting, he actually measured both engines outside of there respective bikes, just to see if it could fit, using fact instead of following the words of everyone else, interesting outcome i believe R |

yep, that was MY RB leak, nbot Roger's (that Duc keeps running and running and running . . . . .) please, no more pics of that guy fixing his bike at the interglactic Buell Gathering of the Tribes and Mosquito Fest, OK . . . . the MaDeuece was looking strac and set up of low drag, high speed fun early that morning . . . by the time I got to Hals, it was the Buell Valdez (btw, operator error during some cosmetic work cause the leak -- not the scooter's fault) |

"Erik and I had a good talk and he got to vent at me for some of the things I posted recently." Don't stop there ya tease. Did you learn anything new? Roger, Didn't Dyna catch a glimpse of some kind of XBV test mule running around the roads of WI? Moot point, the VRod is not a great sport bike engine. There is one thing missing from that VRod engine sitting on the bench... the radiator. |

the radiator Its not missing from the ducati 999, aprilla(any one) or the RC51, all have them placed on the side, in a split configuration, and we all know how narrow a 999 is, so the radiator is a moot point(jose and i talk about this at Hals) And if you read back, You said the XB and the sportster motors were different, than why is that the Vrod motor and the Buell motor would have to be the same???(in the sence that the XB and the sportster are different, yet built on the same line) Have you taken a good look at the Hals race bike for sale, plenty of room in there Aren't you rocket science guys suppose to think out side the box, how will you ever get to MArs, with this line of thinking Later R

Oh and just for the record, i dont really care both bikes i ride currently are air cooled, so its another moot point as far as i am concerned I am thinking BMW as of late, just need Coolice's email it keeps bouncing My pics will be coming as soon as i can get them small enuff, but all mine are from the races later Roger |

Moot point, the VRod is not a great sport bike engine. And why not? Makes decent power, doesnt weigh a ton, revs to 9000+rpms, etc. |

Relatively speaking I think that with the cooling system the VRod engine does weigh a ton. I does not, in its present form make great power. Note, I said "great". Not to mention how HUGE the things are when coupled with radiator. Why does this always keep coming up? Nice pics though! |

Blake...much to your dismay, it most likely will keep coming up as HD (Paul James) promised a whole family of bikes based around the V-Rod engine and many are curious as to what they will be. Like you, I contend that it won't have a thing to do with Buell as the power train isn't all that sport oriented by today's standards on the track and lends itself much better to a tube frame, but that's what HD does well. Additionally, there have been a number of reported sightings and many more rumors in the Milwaukee area. Granted I haven't seen any experimental models but then again I haven't seen any UFO's either. Still, the rumors about the experimental models abound in this factory town. Just gimme a nice big retro styled street tracker and I will be a happy camper. Other than that, rest assured the topic will most likely resurface from time to time until "you know where" freezes over. Have a great day! |

What if Buell didn't need the VROD motor? |

Not to mention how HUGE the things are when coupled with radiator. So a 999 is now huge, interesting, RC51 is huge??Odd i thought it uncomfotable, yet not huge,Aprilla mille is huge??Guess it depends on your defanition of huge What if Buell didn't need the VROD motor? I think what Buell needs and what people like to talk about are 2 different things, Buell in reality needs nothing to complete E.B.'s dream of a street bike, however it is still fun to talk about, and fun to speculate, what if Buell uses a Rotax motor, what if Buell makes a bike thats larger, what if Buell goes away, there are tons of what if's however i choose to live my life and not think of the what if's, just talk about the what could be's later R |

I'm willing to bet that we'll see a V-Rod mill in a Buell frame before the year is out (not factory, but inspired shade-tree wrench) . . . any takers? (N.B., it's a sucker bet, don't take it)

Thursday morning woke up bright and early to go to Uke's, I decided to take the scenic route given to us but after a while I realized it was not that Scenic or twisty so I just got back on 50 and got to Uke's Uke's is a very nice dealership, whose most prominent feature is the Bike Tower, which contained many of the new Buells and Harley-Davidsons: I got there a little early and went inside, they had a nice selection of Buell accessories (not as nice as Hal's) and plenty of "classic" Buells on sale The have a really nice museum on the second floor, Buells were very prominently displayed, along with some interesting Harleys including a a street legal VR1000, a Sporty Cafe Racer and a Rolling Stones motif painted Softail. It did not open until 4 pm so Linda got a personal tour and got some good shots while I was busy with the Battletrax. His and Her's (Uke's that is) RR1200's Linda could not resist tasting the chocolate...

Timing and scoring is very important in this type of event, thanks for all who helped Reg keep the event running Lynn was nice enough to take pictures with my camera while I was busy so here her are pictures:
