Had a great time at Uke's today. Met a lot of the folks from last year's Buell 20th and a few new faces, watched a little BattleTrax (Jose Q is really smooth), bought some detail supplies and lunch in their Harley Cafe, had all to do to turn down a test ride on the Big KTM and split in time to get home to prep for tonights ride with the Sig "O." Whew...Was lots of fun. Wish I could have made the festivities last night but without the Sacred Blue Band around my wrist, it wouldn't have worked. Then again, I would have paid a daily fee for the event. Next year, if a daily fee isn't available, I am just going to show up with my collection of wristbands from the HOG events. I've got one of almost every color they ever used. LOL, just kidding. |

Made my special guest appearance about 2:45 or so. Hung around a couple hrs & debated riding out to lakelawn, but decided instead to just hit Cracker barrel. Met the usual suspects plus at least 2 new ones..Buelliedan & Al Lighton. |

I talked to Peggy over breakfast this morning. I brought up the question about a daily fee. She said that they had discussed it and decided it was just too much hassel to deal with. If I could have stayed another day I would have been willing to pay the $75 but I felt that it wasn't worth it to just be there 1 afternoon and then head back home. What little time I was there was great though. |

I didn't take my camera with me-sorry. They did comment at Sauk Prairie that these were the first nice days that they've had all Spring. We've had some pretty nice days, just mostly on the weekdays though (with an awful lot of rain too). I would have counted the bikes at the factory but didn't want to hang around and look like I was trying to sneak in since I wasn't registered. One idea that may be nice is to have a hospitality room near the bar at night so everyone can get together and talk. When I walked around Lake Lawn I couldn't find anyone sitting around talking. My group was cashing it in for the night and I was't ready to. Several of the people were talking over breakfast Fri. about running up to the engine plant. Oh, one thing I noticed at Sauk Prairie- a bunch of the employees came out to talk to us and look at the bikes. One of the guy's nameplates said "Chrome Consultant". I knew I was at a Harley shop then. |

Iamike...Thanks for asking the question about the daily fee. Hopefully, it will give BRAG something to think about over the winter.

Here's a few pics I took today at Road America. Anyone know if this is Cecils old bike? Buellidan seems to think it is. Not mine but I liked the license plate bracket Part of the crowd doing the parade laps..actually had people crashing during it. 3-4 bikes went down.

The fella with the beard I believe is Mike from Australia. This Blast had quite a bit of work done to it. Customized seat..ala S1 style. Also had what Bubba said is the Buell race pipe for the Blast...twin mufflers. It was pretty cool looking.

Roger showed up on the Duc A few of the Buells in attendance. Al from American Sport Bike attempting to solve his electrical gremlins. As soon as he came off the track from the parade laps the bike died. No juice at all. After some poking & proding it was determined that a wire is most likely broken in the main harness going up behind the windscreen. Wiggle the harness & the bike had power, turn the bars & the harness would move & the bike would die...weird. Pretty cool paint scheme on an XB Cecils bike????

Hulio, Jose & Buelliedan Yamaha Warrior with about $8000 worth of work done to it. One of many female riders today Al wasnt the only one to experience something goofy. Hulio lost his derby cover on the track somewhere. Never did find it. Entrance to the carousel

I have to say I was pretty impressed with everything you received for your $75. There was a pretty good turn out. The first night they had this great buffet for us with fish, beef and chicken all kinds of veggies...and the deserts WOW the choices. The resort was beautiful. They had a battletrax there that day as well. Thursday ( i did not attend) someone can fill everyone in on that one. Friday Uke's did a battle trax Breakfast, lunch etc then off to lake lawn for Steak, bbq chicken and fish with all kinds of extras...after all of the riding I think food was in order for everyone and it was great. They had a bonfire that night..We stayed untill 10 PM since we had work to do in the AM before the trip to Elkart. Got up there at 11am Beautiful weather all week (it's wet and rainy now here in Racine,WI) got sunburned at the races. We had an air-conditioned building with all kinds of soda, water etc waiting for us and (our own bathroom to boot)all reserved for us Brag members. Including in the package we got our ticket in to Elkart and a band for riding the track at lunch. It was so neat to meet some of you from this web site as well as some others. As a new rider I have to say I got a wealth of knowledge from this event!! Oh and the Fuell people were there the whole time shooting pix as well!! I have some pix so I will post!! |

Here are some of the pix I took at Ukes' Some pictures on the way to Lake lawn from Uke's we had to catch up with some of the group to take site shots And then we had Dinner at Lake lawn and then gathered around the bon fire. Awards were given out for Battle Trax and Erik and his girls had dinner with all of us!!! Next day to Elkart, we got to see the formula extreme races, the weather was great too bad it ended so soon. Got some pictures of the race bikes and the racers they came to the building to do some signing of bikes pictures and shirts. And then it was time to say so long....

Thats quite a brake caliper setup on the Hals race bike! Looks like they switched from Showa with traxxion internals to Ohlins too. I wonder why its not using the same air inlet setup as the number 11 bike. |

It was kinda fun driving the wifes Outback to the speeds of 110mph to catch up to you guys to get those photo's. Hmmm...wonder how long that post is going to last. I noticed the other one referencing the high speed run and a rider getting a ticket has been deleted. Actually glad I missed that run as I probably would have gotten the other ticket. LOL Also, 3 or 4 bikes down on a parade lap...What's with that? Sure hope it was those rice rocket guys and didn't involve any of the Bueller's. That sure would be a black eye for Erik, eh? Pleased to hear all had a great time. Wish I could have been there but just couldn't get the three days away. Always contended that the $75 was a fair price for the three day activity with a fourth bonus day at the track. Just didn't make any sense for one nights activities. Hope you all make it home safe and sound. Looking forward to possibly seeing you next year. edited by Outrider on June 06, 2004 |

My wife, Sara, and I had a great time at the Bringing it Home events despite some bike trouble. I started out Thursday by arriving early to Hal's to help with set-up. Breakfast burritos, and video motorcycle racing were available and I think 50-60 people came through before 10 a.m. At Hal's We headed off to Sauk with a large group and unfortunately my bike trouble I had been trying to sort out earlier in the week struck again. JoseQ and stopped with me as I bypassed the fuel filter thinking that was the problem. My bypass didn't take so well and I called Hal's to be picked up. Thanked Jose and sent him on his way. As I got off the phone with Hal's John (Bomber) and Roger(Grndskpr) stopped to see what was wrong. We got the bypass to stop leaking and geared up to take off. Then the bike started shutting off whenever my wife got on the back. So we went to Hal's in the truck after all. Kevin at Hal's was very helpful. Of course we couldn't get the problem to duplicate while at the service department. My key switch was real sensitive and just tapping it would kill the bike so I (with the help of Kevin) switched that out in the parking lot. It seemed to do the trick so we left for the factory. My wife enjoyed the factory tour and shopping in the employee store. The bike ran fine to and from the Factory. Friday I went down to Lake Lawn for breakfast and back up to Milwaukee to pick Sara up. No problems with the bike. We went down to Uke's and watched battletrax for a while. I finally decided to give it a try and had a good time. Bomber Jose, he is good! and me, plenty of room for improvement here. My times weren't great but I was very consistent for the first two laps of competition being only 0.03 and 0.07 off my target time. I ended round one just 0.21 off target. Didn't make it out of round two though. I had a slow first lap being 1.2 off target so I tried to make up time on the second run and turned in my best lap of the day. |

After battletrax a group of us headed towards lake lawn for dinner. About 3 miles from the resort my "fuel bypass" sprung a leak. So we stopped on the side of the road and I used CJ's bike to run to an auto parts store and get an in-line brass fitting. Once the fitting was in place we were experiencing the same problems as Thursday whenever my wife would get on the bike. We managed to get to the dinner late. After dinner I started trying to figure out if the bike was going to make it back to Milwaukee. Sara, Lynn, CJ, Chad, Curt and Jeff enjoying the bonfire After I test road my bike, they had pretty much closed up shop at the bonfire. Not convinced I could make it back to Milwaukee, some of the people still hanging around started asking what was wrong and we pulled the bike under the dinner tent and started taking a look at it. We had the tale section off and about 10 different people watchign the bike as I duplicated the problem. After some trial and error we found it!!! This wire was shorting out to the primary whenever enough weight was put on the back of the bike to make the suspension compress enough. A piece of rubber house around it and we were done. Off to the bar for some Karaoke! Bubba Al Lighton We ended up staying late and drinking too much to drive back to Milwaukee and got a room. I also didn't want to chance breaking down at 2 a.m.! Saturday we went to the races and as reported above had a great time. Group and Erik! A group of us on our bikes after the formula extreme race. Sara and I enjoyed every minute of the activities. The help that I got from everyone with my bike made what could have been a horrible experience a much better one. Sara is even showing some interest in learing to ride after seeing all of the female riders this weekend! Running of the Ridge anyone?????
