Let me know, Looking at my maps It seems that route goes around the west side of Chicago and I never go through the city which is what I gathered from the comments delivered earlier |

Roger will route you through the city, call out obscure alleys and byways on no map know to upright human kind, leaving you with a fine take on the multiplicity of cultures to be found in our fair metropolis . . . . . . ;-} |

Jose, do like was suggested earlier & just hit the city about 3:30 in the morning. Seriously its a ghost town at that time. I have been in chicago traffic at all times & days of the week & while it can be pretty heavy its nowhere near as bad as some of the urban legends will have you believe. Hell you live in the DC area & that traffic near the beltline is 20 times worse.........I have been thru that crap 1 time & hope to never ever do it again. |

Dyna, Yes DC traffic is bad but I have been here long enough to know what areas to avoid. Which is why I'm asking for tips here to see what experienced Chi-Town commuters prefer. Good tips by all, at this point I think I'll just listen to the radio on the way there and see which is the way to go. |

Dave, Will we need our packets and info from Lake Geneva to be able to attend the events at Sauk Praire and the factory on Thursday? If so, who can I call to see if they can be brought over to Sauk. That would save Mike and I a huge amount of time. P.S. Today is the last day of school!! I've now got 2.1/2 months to do nothing but ride the 'Bolt. YaHooooo!!!! |

I'll check and see if they will let me bring them to you? I don't know if they will or not. I doubt if you'll need much for Sauk but to get into the factory you probably will. I'll try to call you tonight so we can coordinate plans. Dave |

I'm going to be in the same boat as Gearhead and others. I am riding straight to Sauk City from Minneapolis on Thursday. I did get a packet of information from BRAG. I'll probably bring that along. It has a letter that is addressed to "Event Participant". That proves it! I'm an event participant! |

Brad, I'm sorry to hear that. Blast up there if ya can, it'd be good to see you again. Well, I'm coming, leaving Joanne behind at the shop while I'm gone. Anyone needing any stuff from American Sport Bike, be nice to her while I'm gone!! I hope to make it in 2.5 days...I was looking at the map tonight, it's a seriously long haul from San Diego to East Troy. I'm gonna have a very long next couple days in a truck...I think I'll diet the whole way there in prep for all the FOOD that's about to be bestowed upon us. Al |

I made it to my parents house in East Troy tonight. I decided to go through Chicago on 94 and take 41 up to rejoin 94 later. The Amtrak sign on the near North side of Chicago said the time was 5:51 and it was Sunday night. I decided to take 94 after seeing the construction on 80. Potholes the size that your front wheel could get lost in are in the middle (Westbound) lane - be careful. I always used to think there was never a good time or way to get around/through Chicago, but this evening proved me wrong. Nearly 1,200 miles in 2 days. Odometer now is just shy of 89,000 (Good thing there are a couple of days for me to kick around before the show begins...) 1313 |

Those coming from the east might want to check out http://www.lake-express.com/ This is the new high speed ferry that went into service today. Pricy but it sure beats driving through Chi town. Dave |

Oh, just a heads up. I called today, you are going to need your wrist bands for the lunches, dinners and so forth. So we all have to hit Lake Lawn first. There is also the ever popular waiver to sign. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Ralph,Mike and John, pay no attention to the above message. Dave |

Hey...Just like a HOG Rally. That is a good thing and I am not being critical. I just wish BRAG would have made daily passes, sans the "Care Package," available to those within a certain radius so we could participate without gate crashing or feeling like a freeloader. Thanks to Uke's and their open house which was set up prior to BRAG announcing the homecoming, Friday will be available to the locals and that is another good thing. Anyone else from Wisconsin and Illinois doing Uke's on Friday? I figure they deserve some of our discretionary income for helping us out. PS: Daves, just a note to let you know that Appleton HD/BMC got some of my bucks as well during your open house. I like to support the dealers that do special things for their customers. |

Yeah I know Outrider and I thank you. I did ask about the day pass thing and I'm not going to go into detail but the answer they gave me made sense to me. Possibly something to work on for next year? Maybe a choice of "levels" of participation? I will be at Uke's on Friday! Hope to see you there if not before. Ride to the edge! Dave

See you guys at Uke's. I just can't do the Freeloader thing. It just isn't right and I like to play by the rules no matter how Neanderthalic they are. Tis the principle that is important when you protest and I have been protesting for a daily fee since BRAG announced the homecoming. Would have payed $25 a day/night to play and passed on the "Care Package" and Race Tickets. Thursday Night at the Factory was what I was looking forward to, but I went last year and will have another chance somewhere down the road. Enjoy!!! |
