I was informed by my local dealership: -that only 10% of all the dealerships offer any HOG or BRAG discounts. Now I know that this is a dealership deal. As to wether they do or don't and just how much. Well my hat goes off to DaveS for even doing the BadWeb discount. I believe it is actually paying off for his new employer also. I was in the local place the other day. A fellow customer walks up to the counter with a pile of goodies. Asks about a discount, gets told that this dealership offers no such thing. Proceeds to put several items back. Purchases a smaller pile and leaves. This fellow aint gonna be back... Mind you I know a place where the Brag discount goes seven days a week and the HOG types are limited to four per month. A very Buell friendly place that one is. |

Loki -- where is the place you refer to? Koz -- not lookin for handouts, but price certainly plays a factor in my purchase decisions . . . .I won't try to squeeze the last cent out of a vendor, as I know it's to my benefit for them to stay in business (there are over 10 bike dealers that were within 30 minutes ride of my house that have disappeared in the last 15 years . . . . sad for me, brutal for them) -- if someone offers me a discount, and I'm not buying just a set of plugs, it can add up in a hurry . . . . as a data point, when that happens, I often wind up spending the money the discount saved me on "nice to have" stuff from the dealer along with the "gotta have" I walked in for in the first place . . . something tells me I'm not the only one |

Koz, Its not about looking for a handout or being a cheapskate. It is just an observation of differences out there and how this may affect customer satisfaction and willingness to return. This experience for the other customer turned out sour. Dealer #1 above happens to own three of the four dealerships within the state(The fourth is a six hour round trip). Kind of a mini monopoly aint it? Dealer #2 is one of five in a specific area, less than 45 minutes from where I had been living. This shop had a very active BRAG club and it showed. One very Buell friendly place. The Brag discount(at that time) was dependent on wether you had a national membership not the local club. I think this also applied to the HOG side also. On a side note. I got a quote from a local(non HD/Buell) for a tire. Excluding mount and balance. The tire in question is a Metz Sportec (rear). The quote with a 10% good guy discount came to $180 with tax. This place had thier chance. Not even close! I picked up the tire(non magazine advertiser) with shipping and then got it mounted/balanced at another shop for less than the tire quote. Is this being cheap? Its called being smart in my book. This third shop relishes(does not understand)why more and more shops are refusing to mount third party purchased tires. He sees it as more money in his pocket. I have heard both sides on this. I still can't stomach paying $70 more for the tire alone. Bomber, You are not alone in that. Dave, Well, you are who you are |

My dealer gave me $1,000 off my XB12S, plus they always give a 10% BRAG/HOG discount. Made almost a $150 difference on my race kit, Pit-Bull stands, Alpinestars jacket and Jardine can... |
