You guys embarrass me. I thought I was all that here in Kilgore with a new $400 Samsung/Klipche Home Theater setup hooked to my standard 27 TV. Blake needs to talk to Frank. So Frank's TV wins the contest if size is important. Chop, 65"er and porn eh? You do scotchguard the carpet too right? |

Course now we have to get a new love seat, chair & tables to match the TV. Just picked up some new curtains but still need to iron them & get em set right. Christ, buy a TV & next thing ya know its turning into an entire living room redo.

OK, since we're on the topic; I have a 32" HD ready TV and Xbox/DVD. I've been looking for a decent surround sound system to go with it. Obviously I'm not in Frank's price bracket but a decent set-up, including speakers for $1000 - 1500. I'd like something that has Zone 2 capability, component video and will do decent stereo music as well. I've been looking at the Onkyo receivers and like the price/feature set, but don't know how they stack up. Any suggestions for receiver? Speaker package? Henrik |

Dyna...nice sharks. Who is the artist? That DVI cable won't go down much. Not enough demand for them. However if you want a cheaper one go to CompusA. Tell them you need a DVI cable for your computer to your monitor. Just make sure you have the right pin formation. |

Onkyo is nice. Denon is nice. Yamaha is nice. Bose typically sucks. Make sure the amp only has the features you need. I opted out of extensive component-video switching and plan on getting a TV with many inputs. Saved a ton on the amp not needing that. Here's a very highly-regarded online only company: Outlaw (hmm looks like they discontinued the ground-breaking inexpensive ones.} |

The sharks are by John Perry. I picked up the big one down at Johns Pass in Fl quite awhile ago. I enjoy collecting a few statues of different sea creatures. Sharks, Manatees, Dolphins, Rays, Sea Turtles etc. |

Dyna, did you catch the Superbike races on Speed today? I bet they would have been really sweet on that screen. |

Yeah, what Wycked said... I'm pretty sure they are the same thing minus the cool look and the "gold" plating. I've never tried it though. |

Nope, I was out buying a new computer & checking out love seats & recliners. I was watching the Busch cup race yesterday tho & that was pretty cool. I wish more stations would go to High definition signal. I know eventually thats the way its going to be for all of them, but damn it all & hurry up. Something funny about the big screens is when you go to the store they have the 36's, 46's, 51's, 57's & 65's sitting all around each other & usually in a pretty big area so these tv's dont seem all that big. But once you get it home its like "oh my god is that thing huge". In all honesty we could have gone with a 46" & it would have fit a bit better, but oh well, I guess I will have to suffer |

Henrik... Give me a buzz...I have been testing out many different Receiver/ Speaker brands lately...and they are in your price range... My whole idea on this theater stuff is that this is affordable for most people...My base package starts at 3500-4000 for HDTV DLP Projector, 100 diag screen, 5.1 Surround Sound receiver, 5.1 speaker system(with subwoofer) all wiring mounts and bracket...installed and lessons:-) That is less than most 65in tv's alone! |

"this is affordable for most people" Bummer, I'm now not part of "most people". Oh well, life is still good in other ways. (Currently still using a 13" monitor on my home computer with Win95, and the "big screen" is actually the living room window. For Home Theater we just walk down to the harbor and watch the boats on the lake.)

Crusty, It's my understanding 420 is LEO code for possession of marajuana. Kinda like all the homies who wore hats and shirts with 187 on them, which is code for homicide. Stupid if you ask me, to advertise to the police that you are in possession of an illegal substance, in their own language. Stupid. But then if they were smart...awww nevermind. Timbo |

I had never heard of the term 420 until reading this thread. I went through high school in the 70s and smoked my share of pot but never heard of 420. Maybe it was just a west coast thing or has only become popular recently. I haven't smoked pot in almost 20 years. I just drink beer! |
