Finally riding the 98 S3 that I bought. Has a oil leak from god knows where around the oil tank ( I think there are a couple of leaks actually) and the oil filler neck is loose (spins when tightening) Does the aftermarket make an aluminum unit? Also, is there a recomendation on brake pads? Th ones on it are VERY hard, and squeel allot. Would prefer softer, any recomendations? |

800mxz There is an aluminum aftermarket tank we sell at American Sport Bike, $495. Polished, nice looking piece. Holds the better part of a quart extra and transfers heat better too. Hard to say without knowing what pads are in there. The stock pads are semi-metallic "organics". I really haven't heard of many squealing problems with them, but they do tend towards leaving uneven deposits on the discs. We've got lots of different compounds available at American Sport Bike, gimme a call and we can discuss their merits. DO you still have the stock 98 disc? It's pretty bad overall, and at minimum you should upgrade to the 2000 spec stock disc if you have 10K or over on the 98 disc. The 2000 disc has 9 buttons rather than 6. But we have other options there as well. Al |

Try the 2000 rotor and Ferodo CP911 pads. They are the best feeling brakes I've felt on the Buells. |

That oil tank from American Sport Bike is really nice as is the frame brace from same. Putting on the S3T saddlebag mounting bracket and the later Y-shaped header mount will really cut down on the vibration reaching you as well.

the oil tank is for the x-1's which is different than the S-3's and the Cyclones at least the ad says X-1's nothing about the 2 other style Buells.... |

We have three oil tanks: S1/S1W, M2/S3, and X1. The M2 tank is the S3 tank, same frame. http://www.americansportbike.com/clickcartpro/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=5266&pg=sto re&sub_pg=prod&ref=156 It is a bear to find stuff in our store....I'm making really good progress on the upgraded store, and am a few weeks from launching it.
