I won't be surprised. Federal property tax? Reform/take over of the auto/homeowners insurance industry? Tax the piss out of the Internet? Go hide and watch. They need income and lots of it. I said a year ago that this crap moves slow and it seems civil unrest is on the rise. Too many people have been burnt lately. Too many folks can't live the lifestyle than have been used too. Who they going to blame? I've cut back on a lot of stuff simply because shit costs too much due to greed/rules and policy. Can't hardly wait to see my next property tax statement. There is a reason that ammo is scarce. People are stocking up and it ain't to put meat on the table......it's to survive the riots. They are coming.....just give it some more time. We haven't had bad riots since Vietnam and too a lesser degree,Rodney King. The working man is mad and I don't blame them. They may wait till the next election, but I doubt it. Something big is going to go down before the year is out.Could easily get ugly.........

The only thing going to happen is America gets the government it deserves and then they'll reflect on that next year and in 2012.

Government takeover of cable news broadcasting.
They already yesterday blamed cable news presence at town hall meetings for the "unAmerican" use of freedom of speech in these "meetings"

/rant (at first I didn't intend for this to be a rant, but my apologies)

I no longer care about democrat or republican- they've proven they're all the same behind the cameras. Not dogging anyones choice on sides but rather that I feel there is no longer a side, just the haves and have nots.

America needs to re-hash the line with its own hardly working citizens. (I know theres plenty around cuz a number of us here on Badweb are one with them). Our own middle class citizens, not more politicians/lawyers.

I just wish the states would give the feds the finger and take their hands out of the governments pockets and instead look to its own residents for morale/ethical definitions and financial income - maybe I'm dreaming or maybe I don't fully understand the scale of which this is tipping. But I do believe that we as states have the ability to support ourselves without NEARLY as much assistance from the government. I've really been losing too much sleep over this shit.

Check this out. My best friend is a detective and a LT. for a local police department. All the brass at his dept and the city gov. had a meeting two weeks ago to discuss citations. The Mayor and his staff have directed the police to be less lenient on traffic stops that would normally be a warning.

Jimmy told me that the the Mayor said, "these are times when our residents need to know there's a police presence"

The Chief, who's actually a Captain, said, "aren't we doing that when we give a warning?"

His response, "warnings aren't doing the job and shouldn't replace enforcing the law. In today's economy pinching wallets will gain the compliance we need to reduce traffic violations."

no boner in the face, but definatley up our asses. That 5-9 mph cushion that's been the norm for a warning may soon be a thing of the past. Not because of proper law enforcement, but because local goverments are using citations as a source of income.

Oddly Jaimec, this has been less of an argument than past threads. The threads that are going on now are simply statements of fact and logic from the Bills that all of our delegates are participating in. There have been minor corrections with documentation to back up most peoples findings, but really no debates.

We have turned into the Bad Weather Bikers Government Watchdog Group.

Yes Buellerandy, I have a feeling a lot of us feel the same as you do. The Republican Party left many of us years ago, probably the same as the current serving Democrats have left their old supporters.

I am already thinking about throwing my hat in the ring just for the sake of giving people a choice. I can talk in circles with the best of them, and can usually deliver facts to support my claims.
I certainly couldn't do any worse than the clowns that are there now.

+1 Buellerandy - no flame!

Some good points are made so far. This administration is on a huge power grab. They are also looking to destroy the 2nd amendment. When people get past the rhetoric and see the realities of what is being done they overwhelmingly don't like it. They feel it's being shoved down their throats way too fast. It is already leading to violence on a small scale(ironically the violence has come from union bullies brought in by the democrats). Does anyone really believe the violence wont escalate? Of course it will escalate. It's just a short jump to having full blown riots in the streets. The people are being talked down to in a way that is very condescending and it is inflaming the situation.

You can be sure that the people are not going to stand for the current style of governance that is being imposed on them. I don't know the form of the revolution, but a revolution is on it's way. Revolution is required for the survival of the US. The spending that is being done will crush the country. One way or another it has to be stopped.

Someone on another thread pointed out the fact that there was a lot of talk of revolution, but claimed that no one was volunteering to take the first bullet. This logic will lead to a false sense of security. No one ever volunteers to take the first bullet in a revolution. Yet bloody revolutions happen with astounding regularity.

Bottom line is that when a democracy reaches a tipping point where the majority is looking for government entitlements the democracy will collapse. History tells us that this is true. If revolution does not come very quickly in a way that restores a sustainable balance revolution will come later in a way that will be much more disastrous and will result in a new government. Either way, be assured, revolution is on it's way. The big question is how long until the revolution?

Some definitions in NewSpeak:

blanket federal sales tax = "value-added tax"
income tax increases = "surcharges"
federal pay cuts / layoffs = "furloughs"
tax revenues = "contributions"
reduction in budget increases = "spending cuts"
reducing budget increases = "slashing the budget"

regardless of who takes the bullet...we can rest assured the first bullet will come from the government. In fact, I believe there will be a lot of rounds that citizens will be taking that we won't ever hear about til it starts to overflow like the level of corruption we've allowed...

ALL revolutions begin with a catalyst event.

Ever heard of the "Boston Massacre"?

It came as a result of the Townshend Acts.

I see significant historical parallels. In 1770 (2009), citizens, angry at the passage of unfair and unpopular legislation creating heavy financial impacts and granting government exorbitant control over their private lives, protested against their government. These protests resulted in physical confrontation, and, as a result, resulted in military forces discharging their firearms killing 5 citizen protesters.

It isn't hard to imagine the same thing happening again.

Are we REALLY being represented by our "representatives"?
