Here is a link for camping info in the SE Wisconsin area. Camping info I am looking seriously at Ottawa Lake, specifically the Pine Woods campground. They have tent sites, rest rooms and shower facilities. It is near the town of Eagle on Hwy. 67 just west of Mukwonago. It's about 20 miles from Delevan and only about 7 miles from East Troy (as the crow flies). | ||

John...I can't personally vouch for the Ottawa Lake area. I've camped at Whitewater Lake. It's a nice facility. Big Foot Beach is alright. Both are about 15 minutes to the factory and 15 minutes to Lake Lawn. If I still lived in Lake Geneva, I'd let everyone camp in my yard for free. See ya in June! | ||

Dennis, The thing that scared me away from Whitewater Lake is it looks like all they have are pit toliets. No washrooms or showers. Ottawa Lake is in the same area. There are a few campgrounds all near the town of Eagle. | ||

Did the camping thing several times. Camped for a week at Sturgis, Camped at the base of Lookout Mountain in Chatanooga TN, hell I was even gonna camp when I did Florida one year but the Howard johnson was $25 a night & they wanted $19 a night at the campground...kinda a no brainer there Now I prefer my camping to be at places like...Microtel, Holiday Inn, Best Western, etc. | ||

Uhh any of you Weesekonsin bike pilots know if you are not a resident of Wis.you have to buy a permit to camp in the state parks.I heard this over b/fast this a.m.,and heard it was $$$$. Or can outtastaters just camp daily for a set fee? What's the scoop. TIA G. | ||

Ken...you need to purchase a vehicle sticker in addtion to the campsite fee. I don't beleive the site fee is more for out of state. Here's a link regarding vehicle admission prices: WI State Parks | ||

WI residents: $20 for an annual pass, $5 daily Non-residents: $30 for an annual pass, $10 daily It's a little more for out of staters but not a lot. It looks like it would be about $20 a night total to stay for non-residents. Not too bad. | ||

I think I just found a loophole! They will waive the fees for "Groups with mentally or physically disabled persons". We can just say that we're all mentally retarded. We shouldn't have much trouble. You all rode Buells down here and want to camp instead of staying at Lake Lawn Resort? OK, go on in. Enjoy your stay. Geez, what a bunch of retards!  | ||

Thanks for the links! I found a place called Snug Harbor. Web site It looks pretty nice and it's only about 7 miles north of Lake Lawn! Tent camping is only $10 a night. They also have RV sites so coolice so could stay here too. I think this might be the place to camp. | ||

Thanks for the info LakeB and Dyna.I don't mind getting a motel if I have been hammerin some miles on a trip out to Colorado,or down to "Joejuh" sheets and a hot shower does feel good, besides no tent to set up.Gonna have to do the tent thing on this jaunt though.  M2me you decided on any campgrounds for certain yet,or still doing some checkin? Damn snow today and tonight | ||

Dana, I did check out the links you posted. That's how I found the Snug Harbor place. It's only about 7 miles north of Delavan. Can't get much closer than that! Plus it looks nice. Check out the link I posted. They have a bar/restaraunt, even a pool table. Tent camping is only $10 a night. | ||

Hey count me in. I'll have the satelite and chairs. If Snug Harbor is the unofficial campground has anybody actually been there lately? Hpoe the sites are long so I can keep my garage (trailer) hooked to the rv. I should be there Wed evening. Anyone have a number yet? Or made a reservation? | ||

Just checked out the link to Snug Harbor-NICE. The sites are 75 ft long, I'll fit. It would be good if I could get a site close to the tent area and be able to provide a "secure area" (trailer) for gear or stuff riders don't want to leave in tents. Just a suggestion. | ||

That's a great idea Coolice. Another thing I was wondering about. Could you bring an extra cooler? Just something the tent campers could keep beer and pop in. I don't plan on doing any cooking so I wouldn't be storing any food. We can buy ice right at the campground. I haven't contacted them at all. It looks like they cater to fishermen so we might want to think about making reservations pretty soon. | ||

Bads1 do you think the campground is "biker" friendly? I think it would be great since most of the time at the 20th everyone was outside the motel in the parking lot. | ||

I think we'll end up hanging out more at Lake Lawn than at the campground. Snug Harbor charges visitors $10 just for coming on the grounds. It's really no different if we stayed at a state park though. You need a vehicle sticker to get into a state park. I think I'm going to call Snug Harbor tomorrow and see what they have available. | ||

Talked to Linda at SnugHarbor yesterday.She said one should reserve early.Didn't do it yet,but I will shortly.Give us a heads up M2me if you talk to her and reserve something.Think I will call her back tonight after work. | ||

Snug Harbor Rules and Regs: http://snugharborwi.com/rules.html You folks staying there might want to read up on it a little and ensure you know when the gate closes. Not sure if this means that you can't still get in after the gate closes, but keep it in mind. It's a real bummer to have to park on the street and hop a fence just to sleep in your own tent, trust me. Not to dampen any spirits, just to keep you aware.
