Bastard only got 100 days and is actively trying to appeal his way out of even that relatively mild sentence. He even asked to be released from jail while awaiting his appeal. | ||

Well, to play the devil's advocate to a certain extent, the one good thing about our system is that we have the power to get these bastards out of office every two or four years. So yeah, they may jack all sorts of things up over their tenure as an elected official, but if it gets too far out of hand, they're out of a job. I truly believe that the American system of government is the best system of government in history. I've studied history for six years of school, and there are definitely other systems that have great advantages. However, overall, they can't hold a candle to our system. Now, don't get me wrong, I think this is disgusting, and I'd like to give this guy a piece of my mind, as well as other more combative parts of my body. But it happens at all levels - from small towns of less than 1,000 people all the way up to the United States itself. And one day, all these people that are getting away with murder down here, will get theirs. | ||

I'd say that this news shakes my faith in ouor judicial system, but I didn't have any. Like anyone with any sense at all, I'm just hoping that the judicial eye never, EVER notices me for ANY reason WHATSOEVER. | ||

Seanp - Thanks for serving our country. You are also absolutely correct about our form of government. The founders were brilliant men and layed a foundation that has prevaled for over 200 years, says something about it's integrity. Unfortunately though we have this thing called the professional politician and they just make a mess of everything. | ||

Has it occoured to anybody else that if the roles were reversed, Randy Scott could have been looking at the death penalty for killing a congressman. At best he would have done real jail time and his family would have been financially ruined. At present,the American judicial/political system serves the people in it very well. I think integrity is the issue as the original rules were written by people that had some. |
