I'm passionate about all of Buell - good and bad - this is just a drop in the bucket. I will not have others telling me what to think about my ride, or thoughts on riding, or what I should do - in other words you are tripping - just because I don't buy into an advertising's set of gimmicks, does not mean I don't like the bikes, it means I think the campaign is shit. You buy that shit being shoveled, your dumber than you think - its just empty words trying to pluck you into buying - hell, I'm so pro-Buell that I'll probably buy another soon, despite that lame campaign, not because. Who are you to judge anything - go ride! EZ |

its just empty words trying to pluck you into buying Ummm. called advertising I think. I will not have others telling me what to think about my ride, or thoughts on riding, or what I should do Good for you. You are truly a strong individual that won't be brainwashed by this evil ad campaign. There are some things I can identify with in the BOB, some I question. So maybe I am dumber than I think? I can tell you that it won't change whether or not I wave to someone. People need to keep things in perspective of what BOB really is. BOB is interesting, entertaining & comical in places. The Cube is hilarious. Nothing wrong with that. Seems like you have taken the Cube thing personally. You shouldn't, but then I have never really even looked at a Blast before, let alone considering it for a purchase (even as my first beginner bike).... then again, maybe that's precisely the reason the Blast is gonzo? So you should if you are selling them. They are very good motorcycles and some people I really like to me. Edited for adjectives (Message edited by danger_dave on August 01, 2009) |

>>the Cube thing personally. You shouldn't, << Indeed - But change the context and make some rank assumptions. ---------- Harley have decided that the Sportster doesn't have enough chrome for their new 'Ruthlessly Shiny' campaign so they have had Willy G sign a crushed and cubed one to signify its discontinuance. They'll hint that maybe they never really wanted it in the family anyway. Sportster owners will naturally cop this on the chin and not look at another type of bike. Minor collateral damage when compared to the older, more chrome oriented customers who will flock to the now pure shiny market. ---------- and you can understand how they feel maybe. Dunno. |

To you its funny, to me its just bad advertising, I do like Buell, I'm not blind though, and I can disagree all I want, its America - ts - I've made a lot of friends riding this bike, and I've avidly followed Buell's history - doing wild research to verify some things, Buell motorcycles rock to my eyes, with only the Duc coming in a distant second - I keep looking at Japan, and am always disappointed by their styling cues, and added work, BMW's line is interesting, but no better than the rest in owner ship mc issues - so not the value they would have you believe. Still nothing Japan offers inspires uniqueness, and handling in one package - want power? - that is there as well. It isn't just Erik's drive to win that is interesting, but how he did and does actually win, building bikes that actually won/win races, over time , one race at a time. EZ |

If Buell would've crushed a tuber when they were obsoleted by XB's I wouldn't have been upset in the slightest (I'm a long-term tuber). I do hope there will continue to be a thumper in the lineup. |

Wow, is this debate still going on ?? I propose Buell crush one of every bike they have ever built so that everyone can be mutually offended - or not. |
Whatever

Tubers ROCK!!! I am still not sure what the offense is all about? I bet, though, some at Buell are getting a kick out of the reactions. Reaction-Bad Action-Good I just think this is all very entertaining. But then again, I have too much time on my hands. |

I would bet the Blast will be a sort after bike in the not to distant future. LIke the BSA Victor (441cc), the Triumph Tiger Cub (200cc), the Harley Hummer 125cc and 165cc. You guys who have them, keep them. Someone will be knocking your garage door trying steal it from you. I, agree that BMC was a bit harsh with how they announced the discontinued the line. It's done and they can't undo what they did. Long live the thumper. |

Does Buell have a new advertising campaign? I have not seen one single Buell add on television. I haven't seen but a very few in the mags and they weren't recent, so I don't think they were the part of any new campaign. All I can tell is that they posted a document on their web site and put some info about a publicity stunt on there as well. If there is a campaign, it must have a pretty small budget. At least it has slowed down the political threads a bit. Oh, went for a nice ride today. It was hot. |

Ed Zick is a dyed in the wool Buell enthusiast. He is also a huge Blast fan, so he is taking this "cube" business personally and wearing it on his sleeve. I think the ad stunt was poorly thought out. Honda didn't cube their small displacement bikes when they came out with higher performing models! To cube the Blast as a sub-par bike that is a joke and no longer worthy to be a Buell, is cubing the Blast enthusiasts also. Maybe this angst will be relieved with a new single, but in the meantime, Blastards are upset. I think the new bike (assuming I am right) should have been presented in a manner that honored the Blast, not dishonored it. But perhaps this is the same part of the company that killed the TT with an unbelievably asinine ad stunt. So it's OK. Stop pontificating about your loyalty at the expense of others. We'll see what's up later on. (Message edited by jon on August 02, 2009) |

Your both wrong - its not personal, I am a big fan of the bikes and Erik, however, I think the add campaign sucks, and I happen to be in that business. They must have talked a lot of shit, to convince both HD and Buell that it was a good idea, but in the end its not, anything that turns away any percentage of a customer base is not a helping piece of business. He could crush a million Blasts now it wouldn't make a difference. The one did. Just poor advertising, when I showed it to my fellow exec.s, they agreed. G - f... off. EZ |

EZ, I agree with your post. BMC really screwed-up with the new add campaign. It's hard to grow your business when insult your own riders that have spent money on the Buell product to begin with. I don't see other motorcycle manufactures disking their own product line! As much as I love Buell, I think they failed this year, "FAIL" that's the only word I can think of to describe their ad campaign. |

I'm your huckleberry skippy - bring it! - G - your dumber than a rock - now thats personal - take it that way. The part I said about the lame cube add isn't personal - its not my bike , no skin off my nose - just shit advertising on their part. I was always taught not to dis another persons ride - if your small enough to do so, than that just proves that you are small person - live with it - lol EZ |

...G - your dumber than a rock - now thats personal - take it that way... A more intelligent person would have spelled that you're. As a self proclaimed advertising "exec" you should be able to come up with something more creative (and personal) than that. If you knew me personally you would feel stupid for even making such a statement. Care to try again? G |
