Just as a point of interest, Chili and I were scrolling through last years Buell brochure, when we stumbled across a few points. It seems that it just takes one short year for advertising methods and 'scriptures' to take a big 180 degree turn. Excerpts as follows: "and whether you are solo or two-up with the Ulysses XB12XT model you get the agility of a sportsbike" Looks to me like they had already accommodated what they are this year are calling the 'superfluous person' on the back. "if we don't agree with how something's normally done, we go back to the drawing board until it works the way it should. And that means the way it should from a riders perspective" However not all Buell riders that appreciate the bikes for the way they are made and run, want to hang off the side of one. Not every Buell rider has the same perspective. "By riders, for riders is our Mantra" Mmmmhhhmmm "to us it's the difference between motorcycle production and motorcycling passion" Well to me the production side would be the new 'Ruthless engineering' aspect, where the passion comes from two places-the creators AND the enthusiasts. If you are going to produce a motorcycle that stirs passion in people, you should expect negativity if you should change that point of view. And my personal favourite... "If being told something shouldn't be done makes you even more determined to do it, you belong on a Buell" Hear hear. I want one, I have been told that I shouldn't be on one, therefore I belong on a Buell (Message edited by vampress on July 30, 2009) |

I always liked em because they were/are designed for the real world, and we didnt give a ratz azz about what Stoner or Rossi were doing on the track. quit your bench racing whining, this is the real world, and a damn good portion of the roads are still unpaved, unimproved, under repair. A bike for whatever the road, traffic or the elements tossed at it. It is the big put on your big girl panny, get a dose of STFU and go ride bike. Just try and cu3e my nine.... |

>>"If being told something shouldn't be done makes you even more determined to do it, you belong on a Buell" << BoD. Did it with the Triumph Scrambler too. Proved The Times wrong quite spectacularly and I bet I've sold (OK helped sell) hundreds & hundreds of them. |

It seems that it just takes one short year for advertising methods and 'scriptures' to take a big 180 degree turn. All they did really was change ad agencies. The bikes and BadWeB are still the fuel for passion. Who knows, nest year they may go with Hello Kitty. (Message edited by glitch on July 30, 2009) |

Would not a 360 degree turn place you back to where you started? |

Squids..that Yamaha was cool..so was the RG500 Gamma...yeah...80's suspension and all but what an absolutely explosive motor...shame that most people will never have a chance to experience anything like that anymore. |

I usually don't pay much attention to advertising. I must say this new Buell campaign is so totally lame, that it actually is making me feel embarrassed about owning a Buell. Need I say more? |

it's just MARKETING BS! Which is why I'm thinking the next campaign will swing all the way the other direction. A kinder gentler Buell anyone? |

A kinder gentler Buell anyone? Sounds very good to this senior streetfighter. On the other hand, they probably don't think of someone like me as their primary marketing target, and they probably are right. (Message edited by gentleman_jon on July 31, 2009) |

"Jap bike geekout- was that a VT250 or a VF400? Looked to have a single-sided swingarm. " I believe it might be an NSR125, or maybe a Thailand made NSR150. Yeah, I'm a Jap bike geek too |

Pretty sure it's one of these, an NSR150SP:
nsr150sp AutoWeb News NSR150 (NSR125's have a different frame, more like a CBR250 and the front disc is on the left instead of the right) They did sell the 150 here in Oz for a year or two as a learner bike, but it didn't sell very well. We used to get some very cool 250 2-strokes in the 90's, TZR's and RGV's and Aprilia RS250's, but they slowly got banned from learners so they stopped importing them. You can still get Aprilia RS125's though . I'd LOVE a VFR400R! |
