Not sure if this has been posted, I haven't seen it. Yosh is introducing a race ready GSX-R1000RR. Funny I haven't seen it on Dean Adams site. I wonder if he and the other Buell bashers call it illegal? M http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2009/07/23/yoshimura-suzuki-gsx-r1000rr/

I don't think that picture is of the bike you think it is...... |

At least Buell is being honest by calling theirs "Race Only". Since when are slicks D.O.T approved. Oh wait, I missed the mirrors....never mind! |

"At least Buell is being honest by calling theirs "Race Only"." Which goes against the rules of the AMA and which will now lead to what we're seeing from other MFG's....more RR type bikes that aren't for consumers. "2)...For a motorcycle/minicycle to be approved, the manufacturer must apply to the AMA, register the machine’s specifications, provide photographs and prove that 100 identical, completed machines of the same model are available for sale to the general public at multiple dealer showrooms throughout all six AMA regions." Last I checked...the 1125 RR is for racers with licenses only and is not street legal. |

I'd welcome RR bikes from all the makers (including the Japanese), provided they have to follow the same rules Buell does... the rules that say a privateer can buy one ready to race for $40k. I'd bet dollars to donuts the ZX6-RR will *still* be slower then the "stock" ZX-6R fielded by the Kawasaki factory team. But how could that be? |

I agree Reep, if the AMA has an RR class. |

This won't satisfy the 1125RR haters. It's built by Yoshimuri from a stock GSXR1000R. Besides, it's still "street legal" If it had been built from a race only frame with no VIN, as the 1125RR was, then maybe... |

"too bad nothing Buell produces will touch that or a stock one" I believe an error is that statement. Please rethink your comment. If thats even close to being right, why were two 1125RR's in 10th & 15th place in the AMA s Superbike races last weekend at Mid-Ohio????....and way ahead of some GSXR's....and ZX10's.....and R1's, etc, etc, etc. |

Just a Yosh kit'ed GSXR. Kind of like a Saleen Mustang. Still not race ready, still has work that needs to be done to get it race ready. |

I can't wait to see what Honda comes up with? As far as I knew Honda was the only factory to express interest in the new interpretation on the RR rule! This proves that Yoshi/Suzk is based on a true street legal, to the letter of the law/Rule book. If Buell can't do the same do I smell lawyers/courts? Can they even do that? |

We disagree, but I'm tired of arguing about it. I think there is an RR class, it's superbike. Nothing racing in that class is racing in a street legal configuration. All are modified. Everything racing is approved as is it raced by the sanctioning body. The 1125RR, as a ready to race pre modified 1125R direct from the factory, is exactly what the sanctioning body specifically asked Buell to produce. You can't get more approved then that... It would be fair to argue if the rules changed, but it's silly to argue that the 1125RR isn't legal in the class. |

ANY factory can submit a request for approval to the AMA as did Buell. When approved, it is APPROVED. Maybe NOT approved by the pundits but what counts is that it IS approved by AMA. The others can also work the same deals (if they can set aside their pride - another topic altogether) - witness the RC51 in the hands of DuHamel. Next... |

All the factories didn't have to. Now, with the RR, they may being just that Slaughter. If Buell up's the ante, don't expect other mfg's not to. |

Yep - nothing's keeping the others from submitting requests for approval. |

If all the manufacturers make homologated race bikes at an affordable price, what a wonderful thing for Privateers! The playing field will really be level, for a change. |

"ANY factory can submit a request for approval to the AMA as did Buell. When approved, it is APPROVED. Maybe NOT approved by the pundits but what counts is that it IS approved by AMA." We may not like it, but it's true. It's AMA's game, they make the rules. This includes parts as well as complete bikes too. When the 1125RR was released I started diggin through the rules and thought it unfair that Buell had changed to different forks and a bigger airbox, which is not allowed under AMA Superbike rules. The AMA, however, can approve it if they want to. Buell are not the only one's who have parts approved for 2009 that are not normally allowed by the Superbike rules. "2)...For a motorcycle/minicycle to be approved, the manufacturer must apply to the AMA, register the machine’s specifications, provide photographs and prove that 100 identical, completed machines of the same model are available for sale to the general public at multiple dealer showrooms throughout all six AMA regions." Buellinachinashop - where is this from? I can't find a reference to "100" machines in the 2009 regs. My guess with the GSXR-RR is they want to homologate a few parts not normally allowed: Higher lift cams Different suspension linkage Swingarm pivot insert |
