Is this Buell's moment like Honda's was with the "You meet the nicest people" ad campaign?

I dunno man. It could be anything. I kind of liken it to the sound of incoming projected ordinance... You never know where it's going to hit, or how hard it will hit, but ONE thing is for sure, everyone around you reacts to it differently. Some angry, some scared, some indifferent and all the while that round is coming, it WILL land.

isn't Honda the world's #1 selling motorcycle brand?

Nope, because it's the opposite approach.

Honda were trying to make the product inviting and broaden there appeal, even to those who wouldn't normally consider a motorcycle. It wasn't a "motorcycle", it was a "Honda".

Buell are narrowing their focus, saying "this is a sportbike" and challenging the reader to work out if that's what they really want.

Note it's just my opinion, and I wasn't even born when Honda started the "You meet the nicest people..." campaign, I only know bits I've read about it.

I've been trying to think of another campaign that uses this kind of "challenge the consumer" approach, but can't think of anything in the motorcycle/car world.

I have been away for a few days, so all of this new marketing stuff is new for me.

I am not a fan...

It reminds me of when Harley went from an outcast bike manufacture to a "brand"

I suspect it will work for the bottom line, but still I see the Buell magic as we know it being tossed out.

Marketing made Willie G. a brand, perhaps Eric B. is taking that ride.

I'm confused. Isn't the goal of a business to sell more product and thus increase profit

OK - I gotta ask again... Who is RUTH and why isn't anybody looking for her?

Sure we're Ruthless, but doesn't anybody care about her?

(GeForce: good analogy! - it is incoming and it IS gonna land)

Has anybody asked (or have any Buell people commented without anybody asking) if there is any connection between Ruthless Racing and "Ruthless Engineering"?

After all, a lot of parts that were tested on Steve Crevier's bike (the radiators as an obvious example) are now showing up on the 1125RR.

. . . or is that just coincidence.
