With the Blast going bye bye... will Riders Edge soon follow?

Well, as shown in another thread they actually ARE building (and delivering) 2010 Blasts, they just aren't labeled as Buells.

My guess is either the Blast will stay around as a non-Buell badged machine, or Buell still has something else up their sleeve...

My feeling is that Blasts will continue to be built as RE dedicated bikes with the use duration being much longer. In stead of using them for a year and selling them, I'd say that they will be in use for three years or more.

They'll be neither Buell nor Harley. They will be their own entity.

I think this still explains a lot. Was the Blast ever a Buell to begin with???

Only the "buell" blast is going bye bye. Several dealers have 2010 blast units on the floor right now. Pics were posted here before.

Therre is a contradiction:

Abstract/ Develop an engine that would fit into a smaller, entry-level sport bike (the Buell Blast) intended to attract new riders to the sport of motorcycling.

Also, I would like to point out, EVERY design concept evolves, my case in point is the Ford Mustang, it went from small anemic to small sporty, to big burly back to the redesign small anemic, to medium anemic to medium burly.

Pontiac Fiero, small anemic, to sporty burly.

Pontiac Firebird, medium anemic, medium sporty, to medium/large very sporty

Designs evolve.

The Blast may never evolve, it may becom an icon in motorcycling history, like a Ural, or that English thing that people ride all over the world.

80 years from now, some little kid will be looking at one in a museum, and dreaming of the day and their grandpa will be saying "Gosh, I learned to ride on one of those"

That's what I keep asking without any forthcoming answer.

You cant register a Blast in the State of Maryland. There must be a listed manufacturer for all kinds of reasons, not the least of, liability.

There is a manufacturer. It's Buell. Buell simply isn't putting their marketing name on it.

Harley is still referring to it as the Buell Blast in "the motorcycle" video on this page on the Rider's Edge beginner course:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/G et_On_A_Bike/Learn_To_Ride/instructors.jsp?locale= en_US

Obviously the videos haven't caught up with the latest marketing. It'll be interesting to see if any references to it show up here.

WRR:
I have talked to the the Rider's Edge folks in Milwaukee and we will continue to use the Blast. I plan on ordering some 2011 models early next year to replace half of my training fleet next August. I'm not sure about the process, price or who will build them but I have been told to rest assured that they will be availble to us for ordering.

I believe Buell will continue to build the blast... .it just doen't rate the Buell name anymore... or I could be WAY off base...

WRR:
I believe so too but then we don't get to make that decision for BMC/H-D do we? For now, I'm comfortable that we'll still get a tough, dependable training machine. I have been in the MSF business 20 years now and these are the toughest/cheapest to maintain bikes I have ever worked with. The parts prices are unbelievable and I hardly ever have to change a fouled spark plug!
