Wow. That looks ravishing!

They don't look like they'd protect the radiators much (or at all) but the look is killer.

Me likey! Especially on the CR.

So you can have lobster claws or an eagle's beak??? I'll take the claws, thank you. Those covers look awful.

Ft_ - the pipe on the 1125R at the top is a race only thingy - the one on the CR (without the true "Reverso" design) is the street version. This is what Trojan said (at least as I remember it), so he can either confirm or deny...

That reverso exhaust violates one of Smokey's Golden Rules: "no bends - in or out - in excess of 6 degrees".

For those who may not recall or never knew, Smokey Yunick was a backwoods mechanical genius who probably forgot more about making HP than most engineers will ever know. If he opined that the maximum bend in an exhaust should not exceed 6 degrees, you can take it to the bank. Aftermarket claims and advertising notwithstanding.

"no bends - in or out - in excess of 6 degrees".

Not saying anything about the guy, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any engine outside of just using zoomies straight out the side where that would even be possible.

take a look at current Nextel Cup car exhaust design. Or my '90 FXR with a 113" S&S for that matter. The 1125R factory race exhaust also is pretty close to that design paradigm.

It is a goal, but may not be realizable in all cases. But to deliberately put a 180 bend in an exhaust when not required as the above system does is simply ignorance.

Everything related to exhausts is a science, and perhaps by having the 180 degree bend they have a much longer header, which would change the power characteristics in a way that they desired.

I doubt it has anything to do with power characteristics but everything to do with "marketing" and/or packaging. I also have little doubt that one or another aftermarket vendor will chime in with claims that it produces a dyno-verified increase of [fill in the number] HP.

Buyer beware.

EVERYTHING about exhaust design is a trade-off, especially with a static system. The 'Reverso' design is meant to provide longer tubes prior to dumping which aid in low-end power. The XB version is a 2:1, so it allows for longer primaries before the collector (just like how long-tube headers on a car do the same thing). It's a trade off.

Oh, and you show me a Nextel Cup car and I'll show you no fewer than 18 bends in the exhaust that are far greater than 6 degrees. On your FXR, I'd be willing to bet there are 4.

I'm not saying the guy is wrong - but I don't think this is a "marketing gimmick", and I think a 6 degree limit is nearly impossible on just about any engine I can think of that has multiple cylinder banks and/or needs to have an actual exhaust system and not just 6" worth of pipe spitting out of each port.

The split radiators allow for the combination of short wheelbase, aggressive front end geometry and mounting the engine as far forward as possible.

Inside the stock muffler exhaust gases have to bend back and forth so it's not like it isn't done.

The headers make some retty good bends too. Especially the rear.
