Inspired by playing the "New Riding Game" and "best road in your state" thread, I went for a ride this morning up our local twisties, Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo, about 30 mins ride from home. They're hills really, but contain some fantastic, challenging slow speed hairpins and lots of s-bends, crests and dips, and off camber turns too. Buell country, and the reason I bought the X1. It was a beautiful day for my first ride up there since the X1 got a suspension and brake upgrade, and since I did a riding course before Christmas. Blue skies and about 15-20°C, it was one of those days where around 100hp was plenty, and I had a great time enjoying the scenery and working on my cornering lines more than worrying about speed These are some of things I saw along the way... Smoko stop outside a winery near Mt Nebo:
The view from the same spot:
I heard an air-cooled twin...
After doing Mt Glorious Rd and Mt Nebo Rd, I headed back to the coffee shop at the top of Mt Glorious:
Look who's here, the same R90S:
There were quite a few nice bikes, plus the usual GSXR's etc, but not very busy compared to summer though. Only one other Buell, an XB12STT converted back to SS spec more or less.
This was very cool, a Velocette Valiant:
From there I headed home. This corner is the one I'll spend forever trying to get right...
This is the entry:
A few other things I saw on the way home...
A great front yard:
A '64 Fairlane 500 just like my Dad's, right down to the colour:
I hope some of you are having a good saturday too cheers, chili (Message edited by lemonchili_x1 on July 18, 2009) |

"Now go steal me a 'roo crossing sign..." If you receive a flat package containing a yellow & black sign, I know nothing about it... |

I'm sitting at a pavement café in Cherbourg waiting for the truck ban to lift at 1900 so I can go home. Drinking espresso's & smoking, watching the totty walk by. It's a hard life. |

Great pictures Lemonchili. Makes me wish I were out riding instead of sitting on my arse while drinking coffee and surfing the net. |

Don't ask me why but I fell in love with the stuff, I could go for a nice VB also. Having a rum and coke on tap always appealed to me also. (Message edited by X1_ on July 19, 2009) |

Looks like a great ride, thanks for sharing! Is C to F temp X 1.5 + 32, or X 1.8 + 32? 1.8 seems more familiar but I've forgotten, either way it sounds like a very nice day |
