Getting ready to trade in my Uly for a Honda. Can not find the blinker fluid reservoir on it anywhere. This thing is so damn hard to work on. |

I understand being pissed about the loose nut,but a faulty switch puts you over the edge?Every thing mechanical has things go wrong. They both are minor problems that take no more time to fix than a flat tire.Quit wining.Fix the switch & go riding! |

we have 2 Tuonos in the garage alongside the M2 it's difficult to fully describe the parts unavailability [forget the prices!] & lack of dealer concern over same went into our local multi-brand store - 5 or 6 '08 Aprilias on the floor - "hi, there, I'd like to buy spare brake & clutch levers" "they're $90 each & you'll have to order them - dunno how long it'll take, at least 2-3 weeks, IF they're even available" "how can you call yourself a 'dealer' if you don't even stock tipover parts like levers & mirrors?" "we haven't sold an Aprilia yet, so there's no need to stock parts for them....." |

Y'all think you've got it bad? My manual says to change the oil after a certain number of miles. WTF?? I'm gonna trade this bike for something that's maintenance free. |

Gee, you are all going to make me feel guilty because I parked my Uly, and bought a Honda because nobody could fix my surging issue, and the factory said it was "normal, they ALL do that" I didn't mind when the primary grenaded itself, or the front isolator went out, or when it idled at 1800 rpms, they actually fixed all that... But that dang surging is driving me crazy I tell ya! |

I'm glad you all have such reliable bikes, in my first 18 months of ownership, the dealer has had my bike for 3 of those months. FYI And I've still managed to put over 11,000 miles on the P.O.S. |

You think you got it bad? Why, my bike has leaked oil from the day I drove it off the lot. How do I know that? Because when I drive it, I could smell oil burning. When I park it, it leaves a small puddle of oil on the floor after dripping oil on the muffler. When I took it in for its first service, the dealer changed the oil & filter like they should; but it still leaked the same amount of oil afterwards. When I took it to a different dealer to fix the leak, they cleaned the area and said it (the oil dripping) was residue from the first service the other dealer did. But it still leaked oil even after they evaluated the situation as it was sitting on their lot. So, when I parked it at home after the second dealer's evaluation of the problem, I cleaned the left drain plug very carefully and made an observation: the drain plug was missing its aluminum gasket - hence the leak. I mean, you can see if a gasket is installed or not. Note: the first dealer missed this as did the second dealer. But, as bad as this may be, it's apparent the Factory must not have installed a gasket in the first place because it was leaking oil on the muffler when I drove it off the lot. Aargh! So much for Buell's reliability! But now that I installed the missing aluminum gasket myself, it doesn't leak a drop! Buell's reliability's restored! |

"the dealer has had my bike for 3 of those months." I would venture to guess that your dealer's maintenance has a lot to do with your lack of reliability. Figuring the price of tools, you can work on it for the same cost as a dealer. Then the next time something goes wrong you don't have to buy the tools again I was ready to get rid of my first X1 when I was constantly letting the dealer work on it. After starting to perform my own maintenance though I've got zero complaints about reliability. |

I was singing the praises of my X1 until last Sept. when evidently the crank pin bearings went south resulting in a complete rebuild. As of now no one has been able to tell me signs that the bearings are going. Like it matters because EVERYTHING has to be taken off to get to them. All this resulted in new crank pin and bearings, 1250 kit and XB rockers plus a little CF thrown in for good measure. Everything was performed in my garage except for pressing the flywheel out and changing the races in the connecting rods. With all the fun I've had on this bike I'd do it all again in another 24,450 miles. |

Bigblock is pretty good at turning a wrench. As for his bike, most of the stuff needed to be addressed by the dealer. That's what the warranty is for anyway. It's good for other owners to have all that stuff on the shop records too I suppose. All in all, the 1125R is one sweet bike imho. It's #2 on my :"If I win the Lotto" list. Right after the XT |
