If I were shopping for a Triumph, the Thruxton, Scrambler and Sprint ST would be at the top of my list.

Thunderbird: Was a nice ride, I was nervous cuz of the cruiser seating position but once we got rolling it was fine, plenty of power and was definately a fun cruiser to ride. When I stopped at a red light, my feet were flat! I'd have to get used to the peg position... cuz on green light I kept forgeting where they were. Riding this bike, I felt a confidence like I could pickup/chat to beautiful women I saw in the vehicles in the lane next to me at a light.
-------------------
Street Triple 1050cc: I was suprised it had such a comfortable riding position. I liked it alot. Very quick! Sounded nice too. I dont know how to explain but the trans/shifting felt weird. It worked well, just felt alittle weird to me. I felt aggressive riding this bike and I am guessing that's exactly what it wants!
-------------------
Sprint ST:
Well rounded Sport/Touring bike. Not as quick as the speedtriple but quick when you need/want it to be. Very smooth ride. Good rider positioning. I could ride this bike for hours.

Thruxton, Scrambler and Tiger test rides tomorrow.

I like the Tiger. I LOVE the Speed Triple, but too cramped for my semi-gargantuan size.
The Thruxton, to me, is a junker, just like the Scrambler. Both are too heavy and under powered for what they are trying to be.

Yep - I would have had a history of Speed Triples by now if I fitted more than one buttock on it.

Scrambler is a fantastic bike. One of the most pleasurable 'Fire Roads' bikes ever. Significantly more off road capable than a Uly too. Knobby tyres.

If you need confirmation that a 17" front wheel is a good thing - Take the T100 and that SE out one after the other.

There is some penalty in cornering clearance - but it's well worth paying.

What is it with six speed gearboxes on these bikes with engines that could be used in a car?

They could get away with two speeds and an overdrive.

Four overall would be plenty.

You know! It's like the oversize rear tire, it's all about the big numbers.

I personally like the look of the Thunderbird. Thanks for sharing Mike!

I only got to demo the thruxton and the Tiger on saturday. I really wanted to try the scrambler, they would not let me sign up for it until my current ride was done and by then it was allways taken. That bike was cool looking, good rider positioning and had a freakin great sound. (arrow system)
-------------------------
Thruxton:
Real cool nostalgic bike, with fatter grips and I must say EXCELLENT bar-end-mirrors! Beautiful gauges. My immediate thought on start up was DAM this is cool! The positioning felt alittle strange, I had a honda CB550 w/4"extended forks and a 16" rear wheel with bars like this years ago. Still,.. my adrenaline was pumping. While riding I wanted everyone to look at me on this bike, I felt very confident. Tight turns were effortless. It really makes you feel like you need to get from point A to point B ASAP but Upon arrival, it leaves you wishing there was a C, D and E!. Every time I looked down at the gauges I thought I WANT this bike. I would not expect to do very long distance rides with this bike, (unless I was 20 something) And I would definitely get some sort of custom muffler (the scrambler had an Arrow system and sounded fantastic) There was a weird vibration at or just above 4500rpm that resonated into my arms. My hands cramped alittle, but that would go away after they got used to the bike. Funny... As I write this sentence, watching/listening to Ziggy Stardust-David Bowie live, its sunny and 79deg, I wanna go ride this bike again. (w/goggles and a skid lid and Gene Genie on my ipod)

------------------------
Tiger:
After riding the SpeedTriple and Sprint I was already familiar with the engine and trans, With same drivetrain it comes with their trans/shifting clangy weirdness (also it's power). But this bike I could ride for hours and hours. Felt great, confident, mature and also very spirited. I would call this a Cross bike! Cross between the Speed triple and Sprint which ends up being as a perfect combo imho. Commanding/confident riding position, plenty of torque and lots of fun thru the twisties. Very smooth in every way. It has the same "iffy" offroad abilities and the Uly. The muffler is chrome? And with the bags you loose some space on that side. I also think it is too quiet. I like the look and feel of this bike, it comes very close to satisfying the needs of 2 worlds.

(The Speed Triple, Sprint and Tiger all had 4 piston dual front discs with excellent stopping power)

Getting on my Uly made me wish they made an 1125X or 1125Ss.
