I do it all the time. It cuts down on the turbulent air around my helmet. Plus, during cold riding days it helps a little in the heat department. I now ride a Nightster with drag bars. I'm already leaning forward a little, and without a fairing, tucking in definitely helps the buffeting at higher speeds. |

"stand up on the pegs for miles at a time to stretch my legs." +1 I do that as well. I've done it so many times, I can lower the passenger pegs without looking for them (and without sticking my feet into the rear wheel) so I just stand on those, and lean forward into the wind. It's a great way to stretch and IMO is perfectly safe as long as you're not doing it in traffic. |

I've tried it on my 1125R and it doesn't work NEARLY as well as it does on my K1200LT. When I use that bike to gobble miles, I look for gas stations at 200 mile intervals (I can actually go almost 300 miles between refills) and at 100 mile intervals I simply stand up and do some leg flexing exercises for about two minutes. I don't have to exceed the speed limit by a whole lot to gobble miles... I just make sure I don't STOP that often. Every time I'm stopped, that's less time I'm actually getting closer to my ultimate destination. It's how I can easily manage 600-700 mile days when I'm traveling alone. I always have to adjust that figure downwards when I have company. |

Thats also why I like doing solo long rides, after 800 miles or so in the first day everyone starts to bitch. HTFU. |
