The S1 is just about ready to come off the table. Project creep hit me hard and the end is really close. To think it started with just wanting to do the 1250 and head work. Got the dyno time for tuning scheduled. Should have been finished before now The numbers will be known on the 24th. Then on to a couple other creep items when time allows. |

I need to clean it first! Took it out for its first couple of hops today. Issues since initial start up: -rear push rod(ex only) leaking at the base. -rear push rod base seals(both this time) tore up and leaking bad, my fault.... -Mikuni started overflowing, trash lodged in the needle seat(in line filter installed) -oil bag grommet bit the dust(return line) and covered the back of the bike with oil -Mikuni started overflowing again! Another piece of trash lodged in the needle seat. First impressions: I like the Mikuni, gonna take some getting used to. I kept the stock 15-x cams with this build. Looks to be a good decision on my part. The porting work and compression increase seem to suit them well. Just need to watch out because they will lug now. So a bit more selective on gear choice and rpms I will be. Motor has a nice lope to it and shows no intention of popping back thru the carb. I also opted for the Barnett extra clutch pack. Need to put a little time on it and adjust a tad. The primary also got a new wear block. Lots of little dress up things were also added. A couple of carbon fiber pieces. Lots of polishing. A set of PM wheels. All of the oil lines are braided -6 stainless. The part that sucks.... Some of this gets covered up as one installs stuff. Yet if one looks close enuff.... I will get pics up later tonight or tomorrow. One of the side projects this has lead to, will be in work most of the summer. I am gonna take a stab at making my own oil tank. Put my mig(gas capable) welder to some use. Stuff other than your typical farm repair work. |
