Since I'm retired and time doesn't matter to me anymore ...... one of the things I wanted to do was hit all the states I've missed to date and go up into Canada and Alaska again. The only problem is my lower back (L4/L5). I can't seem to sit down longer than about 45 minutes and then it starts hurting (like a herniated disk scenario ... some serious shit there bud). When I'm on the computer, I have to kneel on a couple of pillows and I can't do that to long cuz my legs go to sleep. I rode up to Pine about 5 months ago (little less than a couple hours ride) and was down for nearly 3 weeks afterwards. They say I have some sort of degenerative bone disease crap. Trying to stay away from the man with the knife. Like I've said in the past, my head has wore out 3 bodies. So ... I dunno. I've been retired about 14 months now and my back isn't any better. -JW:> |

Ferris, you doing this ride to Gunnison in September? which bike are you riding? If you come into Colorado through Grand Junction, go through and take hwy 65 to Mesa, Cedaredge, and in Delta catch hwy 92 to Hotchkiss and Crawford, and onto hwy fo to Gunnison. Great roads, great curves, lots of opportunities to LEAN! I can probably meet you up in Colorado, and ride a few miles with ya. It would be nice to finally meet the legendary Ferris. I'll keep an eye on this thread. |

JW, you've got me thinkin', maybe i can squeeze a coupla extra days in, sorry to hear about your back, mine's on borrowed time, too, maybe if we can't ride together i can at least pay you a visit and see first hand how you are at building houses. Bart...err...i mean Whoretimus, yes, Gunnison September, shooting for Labor Day weekend, would LOVE to hook up with you, and knock it off with the "legendary" shit or you'll surely be disappointed... Newfie, yes, no problem with Witness Protection here in SoCal for displaced NewfLanders, but hey, you've got a year and a half to come up with a good reason why you HAVE to do this ride, right? ps to Bart: thanks for the route suggestions, that's EXACTLY what i'm looking for! |

Denise and i took our first real day off in several months yesterday to do the BattleTrax season opener in Stockton -- we typically put in 12-14 hour work days, seven days a week. as such, my original, admittedly wildly optimistic roll date of March 23rd (our 8th anniversary) for the Blurr was, well, wildly optimistic. we spoke with Darkside Danny from Modesto Buell yesterday, who was able to confirm that even after all these years Buell will still replace my original swingarm and shock via the recalls (thank you Danny and BMC!!!), which will fill in two more pieces of the puzzle. yep, still have lots of polishing and detail work to do -- no better time than when a bike is down to the frame, right? in the meantime, it reduces a lot of the self-imposed stress that i was feeling to get the BLURR back together in that i have a another, perfectly functional Buell (the Thong) parked beside it in the garage. granted, it has some crash damage from yesterday to take care of... |

I heard a rumor once that trip/crash/event reports can reduce the amount of patch fines. Purely a rumor of course, but an event report would be nice. Please? |

Peter, what's your favorite? Dino, same slimy parking lot as last year, different corner, same results. well, not the same exactly, as several ribs are talking to me today. Mike, i'll see what i can do, k? |

thanks Timbo. the ribs are minor, didn't even feel them yesterday afterwards, but a little bit today. left shoulder today, too, but very minor. bent the bars on the Thong, ground a flat spot in the derby cover, tweaked the toe peg and turn signals of course, but worst of all nailed the far outboard edge of the fuel tank. haven't got after it yet, doubtful i'll be able to pull off a magic disappearing act on the rash, really bums me out. what the heck, tho, i got a 25-cent trophy outta the deal. |

The big sissy was just looking for sympathy--he was just lucky I forgot my camera or the pics would be here.Imagine, making me work on my day off.(And the only reason he's sore is he's getting ancient.)I think it was because Matt Wood's daughter was getting close to his time (and she's about 9 y.o.)The sun came out so I am off to the American Sport Bike N meeting---on Eric's S-2. |

FMJ - I wasn't going to say anything about an AARP card-carrying Bueller playing at boy racer...but now that you mention it. Poor ol' Thong, on the other hand, didn't have a voice in the matter. Ferris - Shoulder and ribs...damn that sounds familiar! At least you had the sense to whack the left shoulder. This weekend I started doing (painful) stretching excercises to get more flexibility out of mine. Hope you're feeling better soon. |
