Well I love my XB and simply cannot see myself getting rid of it anytime soon. The problem is my girlfriend really likes to ride with me as well, but after a few miles on the back she begins to get sore. I've been looking at some mid-size cruiser bikes and have really liked Triumph's Bonneville Speedmaster/America both for price and style. Does anyone have any helpful info about these bikes or any other comparable bikes that might be a little more touring friendly for when the g/f comes along? | ||

take her for a test ride on a Ulysses! Very comfortable for a passenger, more so that the Triumph. | ||

I sell Triumphs here in Florida, both are great reliable bikes at a good price -- you couldn't go wrong with either (the Bonne has an edge in handling). That being said, if you like the Buell's power & torque both are lacking in the those Triumphs. If you are set on Triumphs look at the Tiger. The Tiger is similar to the Ulysses & offers ABS as an option. If $$ is an issue, as Cyclonedon said, look at the Ulysses. There are many used Ulysses' out there at new Bonneville prices with all the personality of your XB. (Message edited by bbbob on May 28, 2009) | ||

I don't know that I could receommend a Bonnie as 2-up machine. I don't think it would be any better suited than your XB. I would also suggest a used Uly or Tiger if you must stick with Triumph. I think the mid-sized "adventure" bike will be your best bet for 2-up riding without breaking the bank. V-Strom also comes to mind... I didn't particularly enjoy the one I rode, but it was comfortable enough. | ||

M2nc and I have put as much as 350 miles in on a day trip. (That is a major record for me, it's a walk in the park for M2nc!) I only have a Honda Nighthawk and the M2 for comparison, so my experience is limited, but I do love the Uly. Rent one for the weekend and see how you both like it. | ||

I had a 06 Bonnie before moving to the Uly. The Bonnie was really fun to ride solo and wish I could have both. I switched to make it better for me and my kids when we go 2 up. They both say that the Uly is "way better" than the Bonnie, me I like them both equally. They are different, no doubt about it, but both are fun to ride and have their pros and cons. | ||

It might seem unlikely at first, but you might want to take a look at the Harley Davidson lineup. I mention this for several reasons. I have a Buell and a Harley Dyna Sport, and I like the idea that they are sort of cousins. Parts come from the same parts person I have been dealing with, and there are certain similarities as far as the engine goes. In addition, the prices of used Harley's have never been lower, and in the last few years, the engineering has improved. I enjoy riding my Harley as a daily rider/cruiser, and I enjoy my Buell all the more when it is time to hit the twisties. just my .02¢ | ||

Thanks for the info guys and gals. I have been starting to think about the bonne not being that much of an improvement for two-up riding after reading around on some other forums. I guess that is the real reason why I am looking for a second anyway. I'll do some looking into the dyna series and whatever else comes up. Thanks for the help, any other suggestions? | ||

Rode the Triumph America last week end. Felt a lot like my wife's 1200 Sportster. Very comfortable. It was also very lacking in power compared to the Sporty. Add a passenger and I would really be wanting more power. I really miss having my HD Dyna Wide Glide. It was a great bike for long cruises. I've done 14 hours in the saddle on that bike in one day and still didn't feel bad. Great for 2 up travel too. Comfy and gobs of torque. | ||
