Was at the dealer yesterday. Thinking about trading in the Honda Element on a WRX. Took a 09 out for a ride. I really enjoyed it. Not just the power of it but a really solid car. Anyone here have one?? Just looking for feedback.
I'll tell ya that lil engine pulls HARD !!! It rides pretty nice considering the set up. I owned a outback new in 2000. It was a great car. I guess I'm wondering about Turbo problems. I have some time to think. I test drove the hatch back. I like the sedan better and they are getting a charcoal grey one in.. in two week's. So then I will make my decision.
It will haul a bike. Front tire goes between the front seats just slightly. Wanna buy mine? Not a scratch ding... never been in a accident and only 47,000 miles.
My brother's got one of the early WRXs. With some mild tuning (performance exhaust, chip, and K&N) it should be rated at about 265HP from 227 stock. It's his daily driver and has over 100k miles on it without a single problem. I'd own one.
every time i see a wrx they always turn my head. they look like such a fun car to drive. i also like the Mini Cooper's. but i still love me Element. i have a also had my element for close to five years now. it has been the best vehicle i have ever owned. 4 wheeled that is. not to mention it will be paid off in a couple of months.
Funny thing... around here, every single WRX I have seen had been driven by a little old blue haired lady. I cannot fathom why.... what is it about the WRX that makes senior women think they would make great grocery-getters?
I go tomorrow to work this out with the dealer. We'll see if it happens or not. Gotta get it certain number for my E and a certain number for the WRX. This is the color or the identical car.
Bads1, I have a 2002 WRX Wagon. I love that car. I have put about 95K miles on it, and have loved each and every one... Well, maybe not the ones that were spent in Atlanta Traffic every day.. but you get my drift.
I put a tow bar on it, and it tows the buell like a dream. I barely even know it's back there.
The ONLY thing that I don't like, is the fact that the AC kills the low rpm torque, but that is expected with a 4cyl 2.0 liter. The newer WRX/STI is a 2.5 liter motor iirc. So you may not see that problem.. but when you take a drive, blast the AC and see how she reacts at low rpm. Then, spin that turbo up and let er' rip!!
No problems with turbos either. I have been a member of the NASIOC forum since 03, and I can't say that I have ever seen an issue with the turbos. NASIOC is the biggest Subaru owners forum out there, and have plenty of tech info as well as just every day mundane info as well.
They do however, eat tires... but that might just be due to driver enthusiasm more than anything else!
It's like a bike with 4 wheels.
I didn't like the newer body style until I saw a new STI.... Now I really really want one.. But the current WRX is paid off, and still has plenty of go in her... I'll just keep driving it until it doesn't go anymore.
I hope you get a good deal!! Enjoy the car! They are fun.
Well I went in and bought it this morning. I sold my Element yesterday to a Customer at the bar. Took all of 10 minutes for her to write the check. This thing is close to as fun as my bike.lol
wow check out that christmas smile!!! you aren't excited at all where you Dana?....lol
congrats on the new car.
Yeah I guess soooo. I've wanted one for years. My bike is still apart so this thing is giving me the kick's. I just can't really stomp on it yet. It has a break in period. I have to get a 1000 miles. Then....... party time. BTW are you making the trip to Homecoming this year???
i wish i could make it but it just isn't in the cards this year. i have a gig that weekend. we booked the gig 2 day's before they announced the dates for homecoming. but you better believe i will be there next year! have fun that new ride and stay safe!
