After years of being bikeless and waiting for the right time I finally am back among the living. My 1997 Buell S3T was delivered by the good people at Hal's HD at 11am today. Too bad they forgot the license plate, oh well. I spent the next hour getting it through the foot of snow in my backyard and into my shed. Tomorrow I'll be pulling the battery and winterizing it. Bads1 was kind enough to stop over an check out the bike with me and everything seems to be in order. There are a few modifications that might need to me made and a few things which I might do to help boost performance once I get to the point where I need it. But the bike is clean and in great condition. I can't wait for spring, which is something I usually never say because I love to ski. But now I'm just dreaming of riding as much as possible. JT |

Don't worry about the plate... I've been riding mine since mid November (1800 miles) with no plate at all. Granted, I fix all the PC's and laptops for the sheriff's department and I practice Jiu-Jitsu with all the local cops so I figure I'm good for at least one get out of jail free card . I am however getting it all taken care of as soon as the weather clears up and I can ride it again (should be tomorrow or Monday) |

The plate was just mailed to me. A new manual has been ordered as well. Tomorrow I'm buying a flamethrower and melting all the snow in Wisconsin. JT |

Amazon Green - that was the color of my '98. You're a fortunate man. Boy, are you going to fall in love with that bike. Now, why don't you plan on a nice easy break in ride for it? Say to Newfoundland next summer? |

I just got off the phone with the army surplus store. Seems that they're fresh out of flamethrowers so I've started out with a hair drier. I think I'll be finished by April. As for the Newfoundland ride... I'll be lucky if I can make it to any of the rides for the Homecoming. My wife is pregnant with our first child and she's due on June 12th! At least I have a nice 68 mile round trip ride to work because after that I don't see a lot of time for pleasure rides for a few months. JT |

Rex, I'm fairly sure the #8of9 RR is still there. Last I heard was $18k would put it in your name. He just smiled when I offered my M2 straight across for it. Bummer. Life goes on.

Actually I thought they had that bike on Ebay for $15,000. The real question is would you ride it??? Oh yeah, I drove by Hal's yesterday and it is still in the window. edited by koz5150 on February 10, 2004 |

Their reserve price is usually up around the $18K mark. And, yes, I'd ride it. I'll put it this way, if they put fresh rubber on it and verified that the engine/tranny seals haven't dried out, I'd ride it out to the SlimeyCrudRun in May if I got it. |
