Hello guys i am an avid angler, 100 plus days a year. Every year i decide to take a freshwater trip. The past few years i have gone to the Lake of the woods. Alot of fun, but it seams to be getting boring for me, decline in fish due to commercial fishing. (canada) side. So i plan to start fresh and go somewhere new. Here is my criteria, 1.within 11 hours of the Twin cities 2.i am open to all species but want to go to a place where trophy fish are present 3.need lodging 4. a little night life someplace close is a bonus. I have thought about fishing the red river for flatheads anyone else done it? Canada is great but no fly in, dont want to front that much coin, Got a lodge that you swear by? Catch and release is fine i dont eat em anyways. THANKS Blake |

I'm a tournament musky Pro Staffer for Gander Mtn. Been with the company for 9 years. I own a lake home up in NE Wisconsin on one of the states top Musky lakes. There's a ton of resorts in Wisconsin that may not produce fish as large as those in Minnesota, but great numbers. I also icefish trophy northern pike out of Zipple Bay resort in Baudette Mn. Really nice place to stay, but it'll lack the social scenery. Drop me a PM if you're looking at staying in NE Wisconsin. |

Ever do a Michigan charter? Also: My friend and I fish in and around Madison when I'm in town. The Yahara River and Cherokee marsh have been great to us when it comes to panfish, but there is a lot more out there. My buddy had a monster Muskie that struck and fought over a bluegill that he was reeling in. That area's a lot of fun. Even if you don't catch anything at all, State Street is enough of an experience to make the trip worth your while. Bill |

The Son and I are headed to S.W Wisconsin this weekend for early season trout on the spring creeks. Lot's of nice streams with nice brown and brook trout. You could stay near Madison. Lot's of nightlife in the Collage towns. |

Stripers of the southern tip of Cuttyhunk, sorry I know wrong side towne. I'm trying to do two hobbies at the same time this season. On some sunny Sunday afternoons. I shall set my GPS to a not so distant of a pond an go for a ride. A couple light duty rods/reels, a little pal box for pan fish an one for sm bass/trout, a snack pack, all stuffed into my back pack an off I go. Hey any body turn their hard bags into a live well? |

Decent walleye, northern and panfish fishing in Minocqua, WI. Plus there are quite a few of these so called Musky things that are pretty big. Hope to get up there and fish them better but seriously some good fishing up there. Plus some hidden ponds out in the woods that produce HUGE bass at least for WI. Minocqua was also voted 3rd best fishing destination in the country. Some nice resorts and hotels and it can be a little touristy but not too bad. My aunt and uncle live up there and he is in the resort business so if you need a recommendation I can let you know the name of his place. Super nice resort he manages. Good eating and some night life but nothing huge. Good luck we stopped going to Canada last year but we never went to Lake of the Woods. I know a great trophy lake up there also www.anglerskingdom.com My 11 year old son is on there in the pics from 2008 with a 41" northern |

We have near 10 pounders out there in the woods but you have to get to them. Public woods just have to get there with a canoe or shore fish. My uncle has a "stringer" mount of 3 largemouth he pulled out of one pond and the smallest is 9lbs. Having said that it doesn't compare to the bass fishing down south. |

No, they were soft bags on the 9sx. One smallmouth bass (still swimming around the aquarium updstairs) who had a very exciting day. |

I'm a ultralight 4lb test guy. Smallies out of the maumee in the middle of summer is some of the best fun I've had with a fishing pole in my hand. |

BWCA all the WAY! Take yer pick on lakes, but Lac La Croix is pretty amazing for about anything you want to catch. Trophy fish definitely present. Me, I always prefer the lake trout when I'm up in the Boundary Waters--eats like steak!! Good luck. |
