I didnt see any "blow up" at Daytona. What I did see was a bike so fast it blew the freaking bodywork off. I usually leave the talk where it is and prove my points in the twisties then rub it in when we stop for gas or stop to wait for them to catch up.
people are like coins, they have two sides and you can not change their value.
just ignore it, I tried to be the crusader once it isn't worth the hassle nor stress. Be like Hank Hill, give them the facts and let them make an informed decision...
Just remember arguing on the internet is like winning an eating contest, in the end your still a loser
The change in their argument from "unfairness" to "blowing up and leaking oil" is all you need to know. They changed their argument and have gone back to the old BS because they have nothing else to go on. They are proving your point for you.
Why bother? Those guys have not posted one credible fact in that thread, only conjecture( which with all due respect you added to with the liquid cooling comments). I would simply tell them to post some actual facts and not bench racer gossip, otherwise stop whining about class displacement rules that have been tweaked and re-tweaked like that since before most of them were born.
A 2000 M2 is a classic, with a motor you can still get parts for. Buell's like the S1 & S2 are becoming collectors items. What's a 2000 GSXR 600 worth these days?
Show up on bike night on an S1, and park it next to a 97 CBR600. See which one gets more attention.
Really though, Wardan hit the nail right on the head. You're just gonna give yourself a headache.
They have you all worked up which is exactly what they wanted. The easiest way for it to go away is for you to ignore it. Eventually they will take their ball and go home.
What I have found is that the folks who make remarks like that have never seen a Buell, ever ridden a Buell, or ever ridden with anyone who rides a Buell.
There were a couple of guys on another local board who were not very positive toward Buells. Chadhargis, Barker, and I went riding with a couple of them. They were VERY impressed with what we could do with bikes giving away 30-50HP.
They became defenders of Buells.
Assume also that most of your typical sportbike boards are populated by kids who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. The GSXR that they bought is probably the first and only bike they have ever owned.
The best rider I know is late 40's early 50's. He rides an older F4i. He is quiet and unassuming.
Unless you are running in a straight line and have a bike with more HP, he will kick your ass. He is the fastest, smoothest rider you will ever see.
My guess is that these folks haven't learned that it isn't the arrow but the indian.
+1 thats exactly how i look at it. but then again im an ass like that. i hate everyone until they prove me wrong. you know what that gets me. confidence in knowing that my friends are truly my friends.
