Hi,

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for browsing/reading badweatherbikers.com with a Blackberry Curve? Has anyone used a different browser other than the stock one? How about tips or tricks to deal with the pop-up functions for stuff like images and cut/paste operations?

The hammer came down hard at the day location & ran out of time @ the evening location so I picked up a BB Curve 8330 so I can browse on the run (so to speak) (and in the can, of which we won't speak)(and, no, this is not currently being typed in a stall :-) ).

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
and I repeat: this is not a Porta-Post

I usually will bookmark each of the sub forums that I am interested in.

BTW, this is a porta post from my iPhone : )

I would recommend Opera-Mini for your blackberry browsing experience. Currently using it on my Storm, and I feel it out-performs the browser that comes pre-installed.

My blackberry was a older model with the wheel (7250), badweb loaded fast and great on that, mostly do to the lack of pictures on this site (no avatars or sigs). My only real tip, which was suggested above was to make a few bookmarks for the sections of the forums you frequent most, just to save a few clicks.

Thanks, I'll be bookmarking a few main sections then. I will also check out Opera once I get the BB software loaded onto the laptop at home so I can back this thing up. I've got some issue with the CD which won't load on the laptop but will load on the tower pc.

Thumb typing is making my thumbs tired.

I did get an 8gb microSD card, BestBuy price matched the local RadioShack price at $20, so I should be good in that regard.

8gb Micro SD card for $20 Mike?

I just got one of those for $13 shipped a month ago!

That price was better than their $50 in store price and also beat the online newegg.com price of $30. The internet hammer was still in the holster a month ago so this tech/phone shift was still in the background then. ; )

Mike

Internet Hammer? Not sure I follow you there.

Anyways, if you want to know how I find those deals, go here and learn how to search

Internet Hammer is an analogy for Corporate yelling to get off the web or get into the unemployment line, log off or get whacked

I'll check out that link tonight, thanks.

I have the 8330 Curve as well, and have no problems with the factory browser. I've noticed it doesn't support any flash or java but I don't really need that. Sprint offers a few TV channels free of charge (SPEED, SPIKE, and NFL included) so I'm content.

Anybody using OM on BB know how to change the select mode.

OM seems to run in what the BB browser calls "Select Mode" rather than "View Mode".

I hate how the cursor stops on every single link. It doesn't do that in the BB browser.

Some manufacturers and vendors have their web sites set up to require flash and/or java receptive browsers only. I had this issue with buell.com abd a desktop PC a few years ago where I wasn't allowed to upgrade the browser so I was unable to view the site or access any content showing upcoming events. With the smartphone browser I expect it to be a bigger issue. Just this morning I managed to lockup this BB browser trying to open up a cycling site.

Mototcycles and small mobile computing devices just seem to go together, so I'll just adapt and adjust when I can and will have to bypass the offramps on the information super highway that aren't open to me and whatever device I'm using.

I think I'll go see how deep I can get into the Buell and H-D sites with this thing. If I don't come back then send out Tron to see if I'm laying crashed in some data ditch someplace.

(I think I only accidently hit the sym key 8 or 9 times while thumbing this in, I guess I'm improving :-) )

Well that was fairly unpleasant. Buell.com gave me a variety of javascript errors, didn't want to let go of Canada and take me to the USA pages, and I had to dig around to find a pic that would load of the 1125CR. Harleydavidson.com just gave me a blank white screen with a little HD logo up in the page address header. Oh well.

Seriously download opera like suggested above. You can go to that link and download it directly to your blackberry without hooking it up to your computer.

I have a BB Curve and it works perfect with Opera, just went to Buell.com and no errors.

Cool thing about Opera is you see the whole webpage and there is a rectangle you move around to zoom into a specific portion of the site.

Opera Mobile 9.5 or Opera Mini 4.2?

I assume I want Mini and I assume Mobile is for laptops with cellular data plans, but I haven't verified that yet. I'll probably try an OTA download later today.
