Good tip on the rubber spacers!   Benm2 Posted on Monday, January 26, 2009 - 02:32 pm:        I tried metal plates, I glued them on the inside with 3M 460DP epoxy, and put #10 screws & nuts at the corners. I suppose rivets are quicker, but I think the epoxy helps. This fall In increased the weight of the pan again by adding fiberglass over the plates on the inside, as it was all cracked up again. It's still mostly black on the outside. As mentioned, need rubber mounts. Even with them, its lifespan is limited. I only tighten the bolts enough to just compress the wellnuts (not much past finger tight) and I safety wire every bolt. I have the whole pan mounted up with 1/4-20 fasteners with hex heads; with wire cutters and a socket in the cordless drill, I can drop the pan in about a minute.   Nukeblue Posted on Monday, January 26, 2009 - 03:58 pm:        nice job wolf! i tried the rubber mounting rout & it just wore through all the grommets. rigid mounting really worked for me. lasted all season. note: always use steel brackets, not aluminum. had an aluminum bracket last one lap!
