I went through two (used) OEM buell shocks on my cyclone before saying screw it and buying a used WP shock. It's worked great since. I'd say get on American Sport Bike and buy yourself one of those shocks. You'll be much happier. |

You mean Works (not WP)? WP is a different company (formerly known as White Power in the pre-politically correct days) known for their forks. I went the Works route on my S3 - excellent choice. |

The people at the dealership told him they couldn't rebuild. Of course they can't. They don't! BIGBLOCK: thanks, what was the EST cost of the rebuild. and did they set it up for your weight? re-valve? reseal? |

Bigblock, how much did Racetech charge to redo your recall Showa? What exactly did you have done to it. Racetech's website doesn't offer any spring or valve info for the shock. Racetech also didn't offer any information on the rebound valves on the forks which I had redone by GMD Computrack Boston, so there website information is not complete (even questionably accurate). I am only about a week or two away from ordering a Penske double clicker. (Message edited by eboos on November 25, 2008) |

OK- Youze guy who had Racetech (AMAZING firm) rebuild your Buell shocks- please find the ROs for the work (or simple invoice #), post or PM it to the guy who needs a rebuild, and let him give them that RO# with which to pull up your service. Kind of removes the he-said/she-said aspect. |

Also- try contacting any of these dipshits who make their sad little "choppers" out of Buells...and ask what they did with the shock. |

I have racetechs price sheet. Its on their website. IIRC the pricing sheet directs you to call Racetech for their pricing, but it lists Buell tubers shock as an option. I'll link when I get home. lovedabueller-I know that's what they told you. I'm telling you they are rebuildable, get it? Oh, and I can give you a number for Works Performance to talk with a fella about discounted shocks. I bought my Works shock from the company direct fo 329.50 (50% off). =) |

I have moved twice this year, so the chance of finding any paperwork on that shock is slim at this point. THey told me, after they got the shock, if I remember right, that they couldn't revalve the shock,or was it respring it? But he said they could rebuild it. I suppose they put in new seals, and bushings and recharged it. Maybe they revalved it. They did not send me an itemized work sheet back with the shock. I paid about 140 dollars. This was a bit over a year ago, I suppose it could cost a bit more now. It definitely made it work as good as new, and I think better, actually, because I borrowed a friends brand new showa right out of the box, while I sent mine in, and when I switched from the brand new one to the rebuild, it definitely worked NOTICEABLY BETTER. |

They'd still have a record categorized by your surname, if it's not a waste of your time, it may be worth shooting them a shemale to find the RO# |

The Buell Showa shocks (the ones with the chrome shroud) were never designed to be rebuildable other than changing the spring. Anything more than this which requires the shock to be completely stripped was never envisaged and not recommended. There used to be a couple of 'High profile' UK suspension companies that advertised that they could strip and rebild Buell shocks. The resulting 'fix' never lasted very long before the seals failed and were a waste of money. They don't advertise this service any longer. Stock suspension components are designed to accomodate a huge range of rider weight and riding styles, from racing to 2 up touring, so will never be as good as an aftermarket replacement shock built to suit your weight and useage. It will also be the best investment you ever make to your Buell. |

The WB coilovers, however, are rebuildable and also cheaply had. One thing to consider would be folks parting Buells out, or those selling scoots with blown engines. Purchase on, grab the shock, and sell the rest of it |

About 2 seconds on racetech.com relinquishes this info: http://www.racetech.com/evalving/english/Srchpr.as p?bikeid=27&manufacture=Buell&model=M2+Cyclone&yea r=00-01&TABLEINFO=street&langname=english As I said earlier, there's tuber being parted out in the Classifieds with a Works shock on it. Though you're probably too late because someone is inquiring about it. Coulda snagged that for probably a few hundred. (Message edited by brinnutz on November 26, 2008) |
