AAAAAhhhhh.... This has been probably one of the most enjoyable thread evolutions to read so far. I voted. Either flavor wins, we'll be aaaaaiiiiightt. The way I look at it, it's WIN/WIN when we're done with the shrubbbery this coming January- along with the Nixon administration flunkies that got recycled this past 8 years. I LUUV all you'ns out there who care bout all this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I went riding yesterday with my sweetie, from Mur-Vil out to Maggie Valley and visited with Dale Walksler at his fine museum. Wheels Through Time WILL BE CLOSING FOR GOOD AT THE END OF THIS MONTH!!!! If you haven't seen the collection this man has out there, YOU'D BETTER MAKE YER PLANS NOW. Vote and go riding. The weather is frickin GREAT where I'm at- still plenty of pretty leaves to looky loo at. Even saw some BEARS out on 441- buncha meatheads decided to stop ALL traffic flow on the highway across the mountains just to gawk. As soon as we started moving again, I gave the Road King a good hard LOUD VROOOM VROOM guessing it might skeer the bears off and spoil it all for the throngs of idiots with cameras... HAHAHAHAHA AAAAHHHhahhaa!!!!!!!!!!! Hope it did. I'm feeling mischievous today- if I put up an Obama sign on the corner, expecting it to be stolen (happened once already), what kind of hunting lures, deer bait, etc. would be good to <baste> the sign in after sticking it in the ground? Bueller? $hiites and giggles- that's my life philosophy... |

Tramp- 4 seasons and all guuud. Deals Gap is much better in the winter when the leaves are down and the "bears" are hibernating. Sight lines through corners are greatly improved- sometimes you can plan the next 3 or 4 corners in compressed time... Come visit and I'll take you down the local roads!! |

Hey Tramp... I guess the kids do almost all of their day-to-day riding at a place called "Heavenly." Ever hear of it? Also, how late does the season typically run out there? My girlfriend said they get season passes and spend probably 5-6 days a week out on the slopes. Bill |

Bill- Heavenly is South shore, it straddles Cal. & Nev. While most of my connections are on the North Shore, I am old friends with the director of one Nevada resort, just up the shore from heavenly. Heavenly is HUGE and fun. Seasons at Heavenly go well into April, with limited facilities through May, last I checked. Some of Heavenly's best features are its views waaaaaaayyyyy out over the lake. Harrah's, down below the base, is a trip in itself. You're really going to have nice time, there. Let me know when you go- Jay |

riots to sportscars? I missed something. If Obama loses, and I highly doubt he will no matter how much I pray, I fear we'll be seeing the very quiet Jesse Jackson spouting off and that would result in riots. |

Hi Jay, I'm trying to set something up in February or early March. I have been trying to save some money every month. I am planning to surprise my girlfriend with the trip. Her sister lives right in Tahoe. They bought a house there years ago before the real estate boom priced most blue collar people out of the housing market. Thanks for the links. That place looks incredible. Bill |

One of the best off-season pursuits for sport riders (who actually take a season "off")

We ride mostly year round if we want to here, Tramp we may have a few brisk days each year, the last time we had any serious snow was in the late 80's with about 14" Wilmington NC shut down for the week. Have you skiied any of the NC slopes? |

I will be voting tomorrow, and going for a job interview afterward, cuz if Osama wins I wont have a job. |

No, I haven't, and I've always wanted to try Beech, Sugar, etc., The Eastern US' highest-elevation ski resorts (!). I go through Wilmington pretty regularly, as a medical specialist I deal with is in the Brandywine region. I don't ride my Buell there too much, though given the local Penguin population. Seems plenty of 'em work at the local HD dealers, in that area, as I've found out a few times |

I took my daughter several years ago, I had to demonstrate the "tripple axle arial inverted face plant" for her, I have been curious about snow boarding VS skiing is the board more maneovurable (SP)? Yeah you have to watch out for the penguins around here, that and snow snakes BTW Brandywine where is that exactly |

"Bill- Try to go as late into March as possible" What makes that the best time to go? I just looked up ticket prices. Milwaukee to Sacramento with tax for $275.00! I doubt they will go lower, and I'm thinking of dropping the hammer as soon as I find a time both the GF and I can take off work together. Bill |

Tramp, I must say I have never been on an alpine board but I have ridden a handful of friends' boards. I like skiing with the feet close. I realize people like Bode usually have a few inches between the skis but they still aren't spread too far apart. So why do you say it is a 70's riding style? I'm not questioning your knowledge, I just want to improve. But I say we must agree to disagree. I maintain it takes more skill to ski like an average skier than it does to ride like and average boarder. |

I'm hoping to get back on a board after WAY too long off the slopes. Most of my misspent youth was atop a Powell Peralta Tommy Guerro deck. I was introduced to the snow, and it was like crack. I skate goofy foot. I'm hoping to get out to meet Spatten1 IRL this winter. |
