I liked the Blast I got for the wife so much, I got an XB9S Low...picked it up yesterday. I put about 75 miles on it this afternoon, around town and on the backroads. I think we are going to be good friends

Although I got the low version, I put a regular seat on it and it seemed to work out well. My legs are a little short for my 5'10" but long enough to need the full seat/peg distance. The low chasis / regular seat allows me to get just a little more stability when flat footing it, but doesn't cramp me up on the pegs. That's me...different in every sense ... Buells were made for me!

I was initially concerned about the vibration, but either I got used to it after a couple of hours of riding, or it started smoothing out some. There was a little more weight on my wrists than I had anticipated, but I seem to have adjusted to it pretty quickly. My right foot sure got warm while riding around town in stop and go traffic. I read where this is not unusual on the XB's. Man...I am going to have a left forearm like Steve Garvey (remember him?) if that clutch doesn't soften up a bit

These are all very minor issues that are FAR outweighed by the fun I had riding the Lightning this afternoon.

I haven't been riding long, and what I have been riding has been in the 30 HP range. Needless to say, a significantly higher level of throttle control is indicated with the XB. The first time I shifted to second, it took a few seconds for my head to catch up with the bike and the rest of me

I keep looking for the front wheel when I'm riding... I KNOW it didn't fall off

The young guys think it is sick and the old guys think it sounds kinda like a Harley so I may be flirting with universal acceptance here. Everyone agrees that the thing is so damn short! No one has asked to ride pillion yet...

I just finished setting up the suspension per the manual. It appears that it was set at the factory for someone around 150 pounds.I'm around 220. I'm eager to see what changes I've made.

I want to thank DaveS and Buckinfubba for the effort they both made in answering my questions and trying to set me up with what I wanted. In the end, I decided to go with a dealer closer to home (175 miles). Cycle Connection H-D/Buell in Joplin, MO has set up a separate Buell sales shop, has a good selection of bikes, and some Buell apparel. They seem to be committed to Buells...what a concept!

The wifey and I are just going to be toooo cute as we ride off into the sunset on our Buells

Brad- never rode one of the XB's, but if it's anything like my M2 you will be blown away as you gradually get the gonads to really LEAN the sucker! Try this: straight & level on a open stretch of road, 60-70 MPH countersteer left/right, gradually more and more as you get the guts. You'll find you could dodge the dotted lines all day long. And if that doesn't put a grin on your face...wait 'til you try the corners! And welcome to the 'web! ck

They didn't set up your suspension for you before you left with the bike? Rookies!

Ride to the edge!

Dave, They are not ALL like you and Bubba now!!!

Now there is an understatement if I ever read one. Bought lots of bikes over the years and never had anyone adjust the suspension. Stock settings are all you get along with the manual to figure it out for yourself.

These guys are great!

Thanks for the kind words.

Had my first maintenance issue this afternoon...the right turn signal came loose. No big deal, but I had to remove the fly shield and drop the headlights to get to the nut. After setting up the suspension and fixing the turn signal, I am beginning to feel like a real wrench head. The tires were underinflated 10 pounds and I was a little concerned with the oil level when I checked it today...somehow I get the feeling that this bike wasn't prepped too well . I have read some discussion about whether it is appropriate to add synthetic oil during break in, but the Mobil One 20W50 was a close as I could get to the recommended oils in the manual.

Inflating the tires to the proper pressure and adjusting the suspension to my weight made a significant change in the way the bike handles

I put 110 miles on the bike today... I have been assimilated.

Check the tire pressure BEFORE you ride and the oil level AFTER you return.

And have fun... :]
