Malcontents??? You bet I am unhappy with my Buell experience. The folks I have met because of the bike are great, but the bike itself is a major headache. You pay for something for 14months & never even see it & tell me how happy you would be. Lesson: pay more for the bike up front and don't get in backwards Court...that was after 2 months when it blew up. Wouldnt have mattered if I put half down, at that point I couldnt get half ow what I owed on it. BTW..not everyone has the luxury of dropping 1/3rd or 1/2 of the price of the bike in cash. Thats why they have financing. Rocket mentioned something similar "And before anyone asks I don't have the resources to match those of us that can rebuild a Buell overnight." A lot of us are day to day average blue color workers who dont jet set all over the country. We put in our 40+ hrs a week, pay our bills & hopefully at the end of the week have a little extra to put some gas in the bike & go for a ride. Its so easy for someone to throw out the phrases "sell it & move on" or "nallinize the motor" or "just go fix it". Not everyone has a wheelbarrow full of cash next to the couch to just dip into whenever something happens. We have to scrape & save every nickel to afford certain things & when the shit hits the fan & said things break, its a huge financial burden.

Dyna, Financial planning that depends on the ongoing health of a mortgaged recreational vehicle... ain't. My point is, now let me make this crystal clear... I simply do not want to hear it any more, and I especially do not want to see it any more on BadWeB. You've made your point time and time again. It is past time to put your disappointments and frustrations to bed and move on. Capice? |

quote:Wouldn't that be great if AMAPR required all machines be American or at least had one class where that was the rule?
If you watched Dirt Track racing you would know that there is an American Spec Class, the 883 Sportster Dirt Track Class. There used to be an 883 Road Racing class, but its popularity/participation waned and it was dropped a few years ago.
quote:I'd be fine if the AMAPR decided that they wanted to run a spec engine class.
For Road Racing, the BMW Boxer cup, only at Daytona is as close as the AMA will get.
quote:Instead they pretend to run a class open to all engine configurations, but they stack the rules in clear favor of only one very specific configuration.
Huh? Are you complaining that Formula Extreme air cooled bikes are allowed up to 1350cc's and unlimited modifications while 600 and 750's twins are held to stock displacement and Supersport type intake and engine restrictions? Please explain.
quote:NASCAR plays no such games. It is a spec engine class for American made machines. NASCAR has integrity. The rules are clear; they are enforced evenly and fairly; safety is a primary concern.
You don't follow NASCAR do you? If you did you would realize that statement is so completely wrong that you would not have made it.
quote:AMAPR fails on all accounts in those areas. Simply put... They suck.
Which is why the top Buell Supported teams will race in the AMA next year, not FUSA. |

I LIKE MY BUELL However I bought it to ride and not just to behold as a bloody ornament - which is what it's become. Well I tell you what, listening to some of the sentimental shit you guys spout, Erik Buell built a motorcycle and if Court is to be believed that means being part of Erik Buell's American Dream that he has shared with us and allowed all of us to ride with him must be a gift we're honoured with too. Well if Erik Buell wants me as a disciple tell the genius to end my nightmare at his expense. Meanwhile I'll just carry on as I was and if the truth hurts that's tough eggs. And just for the record, I get a lot of satisfaction from venting off here. Now being a Buell board and all and given that Buell is the ONLY motorcycle headache I have in my life, the cause of my venting, this surely is the place I should come for Buell solace - from other like minded Buellers who've experienced similar gut wrenching heart felt wallet crippling pain. Some of you need to get off your high Buell's and smell the shit you're shoveling. Not every Buell experience will be a good one - just like REAL life. American Dream my arse. Happy riding (when it works) guys. Rocket

Hey Dyna is that your answer to Blake? He's got you doing semaphores now LOL Hey Blake this was a good thread until you bled all over it with that NASCAR stuff. Then you go say that to Dyna just when we was getting warmed up. C'mon man lighten up and quell the boredom. Not all of us are interested in free T shirts you know. Personally I prefer a little excitement amongst these Badweb topics. May I respectfully suggest that if you don't like anyones input perhaps you could just not join in the topic in question - just sometimes? Rocket |

Nah still here Rocket. Its a no win situation tho. Its Blakes board & he is gonna do as he see's fit. Kinda like that whole war topic, if you agreed wuth his viewpoint it was all good. But if you disagreed then you were labeled as an unpatriotic Iraqi supporter. Its the same with the Buell topic, if your experience mirrors the positives then its ok, but if you have an opposing viewpoint with an entirely different outlook on the situation, then you are told your viewpoint is no valid so just go sit in the corner & shut up. I too paid to get into the party have purchased 2 Buells & I have no resolution to my issues yet. yet I sit here & read how these folks are speaking of the comapny & how they are almost like the 2nd coming of christ. Its a big corporation that owns them now & they really dont care about the individual consumer, yet its made out as if its still Eriks to runas he see's fit. Im done now, going to go back & sit in my corner |

I am still here because I would like Buell to a great bike. I might be wasting my keysrokes but I hope that at some point in time Buell might (in my opinion) wise up and build a bike the likes of the KTM V-twin, and stand behind it. My view is this, other makers have problems with their bikes. BMW had a engine blow in a demo bike with Motorcyclest I think. A Triumph Tripple died in a magazine test. The difference is that the maker and dealer made it right. Buell and more to the point the dealerships do not stand behind the product. If my dealer had been Modesto I might still have my bike. The difference in 'yeah you have a problem there but we can make it right' and 'what do you expect us to do about that'? Is the difference between keeping a customer and losing a customer. Well, I took Sarodude's advice and this time last year sold my Buell and Bought a Yamaha. I agree with Dyna and Rocket and would add something else. If Buell are not targeting the 600cc squid market, the younger riders, then who? Older riders like myself and I think Rocket and Dyna who bought into Erik's vision back in the day? We have been ignored and alienated by the factory and treated worse by our dealerships. We are not going to buy another Buell. Which I find very odd. What business goes out of its way to drive off customers? Well my HD/Buell dealership of course, because they don't need my business. They make big bucks hanging chrome on HD's. Which is fine but left me out in the cold. I have to wonder what Buell is thinking allowing this to cointinue. Modesto Buell is very successfull because they are a stand alone Buell, and now Ducati and Gas Gas dealer. They are all the Buell all the time. Unfortunately dealerships like Modesto make up what, one percent of the dealerships? Buell may be a niche bike much like Ducati, Moto-Guzzi, KTM, etc. The difference is that the factory and dealers for those brands tend to stand behind their product. Yeah I'm pissed. My 1998 S1W was the first new bike I had bought in 22years. I paid alot of money for it and found that when I started having problems, the company did not support me and my dealership treated me like a leper. Of course now we understand that to be the norm. |

LOL..good one Jim Budo, i agree with a lot of what you say. I too wish for buell to do well. I truly do like my bike when it runs. I also believe that if i had a dealership worth a shit that actually cared about the customer I would have been 1 happy Bueller. its the dealerships that are dragging the company down & i fail to see why they dont do something about it. How about supporting the customers who have supported you? The older guys obviously arent the target audience for the XB's. Its been mentioned many times by Harley dealership owners that the whole purpose of Buell is to get the younger people in the door, sell em a bike & hopefully they will eventually trade up to a Harley. I dont see a lot of tube frame owners trading up to the XB's, yes you have some but it appears as if the overwhelming majority of XB owners are younger people. I love the looks of the S1 & the X1. The new XB's frankly turn me off a bit. They are nice but they dont have that raw, muscular, gonna rip your head off look. Look at this as an idea of not being supported even on a dealership level....I belong to a local brag chapter & a HOG chapter. The HOG folks get a 10% discount on parts yet the Brag people dont. Thats just wrong.

Yea, so we all know that, some just don't fess up to it or dwell on it ...... and some do. It's pretty common knowledge nowadays that most of the Buell dealers suck and that HD/Buell isn't going to do anything about it. I know it's hard to do but you have to learn from the bad experience and then move on. A stealership had one of my Buell for nearly 5 months years ago. It took me a LONG time to get over it. Even pisses me off to this very day but ya gotta move on. Others that haven't went through the fucked up experience simply won't "get it", just as you don't "get it" that you have to "move on". Jim baby, I can only speak for myself. I've moved on. I am chilled. I like my Buell. One day soon I'll fix her. I've already bought several new parts for the impending rebuild but right now I have a lot of other things to take care of. The Buell can wait - it's become that kind of bike - see how chilled I've become. The past few weeks have been rather contrary though where the Buell's concerned. I really don't know if I can still live with the damn thing despite her being one of the best S1's on the planet. It's an awesome machine but in truth I'm flogging it to death trying to hang with my Jap and Duc riding buddies once they really get going, and there are still lots of other little touches that I'd like to do to her but my enthusiasm isn't what it use to be, partly because I know she'll never really have the performance I'm after so when she is fixed I probably will sell her. I grant you it would be a different story if I could afford to keep her - and go buy that Brutale. In truth, I just don't know what I'm to do with the Buell saga but I suppose if someone offered me £6000 for her now I'd bite, and despite the repairs needed that's still a cheap Buell! Like I said, I can only speak for myself. I've moved on. I am chilled. I like my Buell but I am confused. Rocket

I dont see a lot of tube frame owners trading up to the XB's, yes you have some but it appears as if the overwhelming majority of XB owners are younger people. Do ya reckon this is because the Tube Framers are too loved to trade and the new Buellers really only have one choice if they want a new Buell. I'm your age and bought an XB for two reasons. I wanted a Buell, and I wanted a new bike.

Rocket: I'm glad to hear you're in like with your Buell again. I felt the same way you do about my Bandit. Everyone that I rode with seemed to always be waiting on me, 'til I started riding by myself or with other Bandits. The Bandit isn't as popular here as it seems to be over there, so I rode alone a lot. When I bought the XB I was still riding by myself because I had grown accustom to it. Not too long after I met a fellow Bueller that lived near me. He showed me some roads around here and in North Georgia. I see a lot of S1s up there and they are a hard bike to catch up with in the twisties. I stay off the long straights, mainly because they're boring. I guess what I'm trying to say is best of luck in what ever you choose to do with your Buell. I hope you choose to keep 'er and ride 'er as she was built to be ridden. I also hope that there are a lot of roads over there where the Buell loves to be ridden. Best of luck with the repairs, and may they be few and far between (not to mention minor) from here on out. |

My tube framer is a long term keeper, joining the Cushman 711. The S-2 is a bike that defies description. Note that nearly all the multi-Buell afficianados have worked their way "up" to the S-2. No one can put a finger on it but there is just something about riding that bikes that is electric. I used to worry about what it was....now I just ride and enjoy. Age, I suppose. Court |

All this is great, but y'all let Blake slip one by you
quote:You might ask ... "Why did MCN stop their dyno run of the XB12 well short of redline, and what would have been the results had they taken the engine all the way to 7,500 rpm?"
If you knew your XB12's better Blake you would know that XB12's redline at 6800 rpm, not 7500. Sport rider got 99 Hp, CycleWorld got 92, MCN got 85 all at around 6800 rpm, redline |

That's a real drag that so many people have ill feelings about their Buell's. I have over 30k on my 00 cyclone and it has never left me stranded and I ride the piss out of it. I actually have a great dealer who actually has employees who dig the whole buell seen. I guess I got lucky. Even if I have future problems there is nothing out there in my mind that has the feel and personality of my cylone. |

Actually the M2's were one of the better ones. You really dont read of folks having a lot of issues with them. most of the higher mileage Buells are the M2's. I dont know if its related to the FI thats installed on the S3's & X1's or not. I believe those bikes were also supposedly tuned for a little more power..different cams. maybe that has something do with it? |
