It is funny...in fact it was funny way back when it came out.

But, like many urban legends, that's all it is...funny and great entertainment.

There used to be a video clip with it.

I we wanted something to do a quick quarter mile or run a 170 mph I am sure we would all be riding a Hayabusa. That would sure be boring.

There will always be something bigger, better or faster out there somewhere. I don't care if you do ride a Hayabusa. That triumph will never be as unique or cool as a Buell.

I am, UNIMPRESSED

Yeah, I know what you mean by unimpressed. It's a shame to pay that much for a bike as unreliable as a Buell.

Well, not the fastest drag racer anyway.
I bought a street bike that handles the best in the environment I love to ride in.

Buells arnt' made for flat out race...plus, i agree i didn't buy it to go hell bent speed...

I could have spent 10K on a Ninja 1000, and pay double the insurance..... but No other bike out there gets the looks that my X1 with Supertrapps gets at stoplights when people are expecting a harley and see my buell... HAHAHA LOVE IT!

plus my buddy has a 1996 Yamaha FZR 1000, we ride together a ton, he gets me on the strights but the corners i catch up like he is standing still.... lets see that speed triple match against a 12R on a corner course..

just a thought.

Chewy,
People like you crack me up. I can't believe that you have nothing better to do than come to a Buell board and run your mouth about how bad Buells are. Granted, the tube-frame Buells have been known to have some reliability issues but they are still sweet machines. I would take one over a Triumph any day. What you need to keep in mind is the great reliability that the XB's have shown. The people at Buell have it figured out now.

If you want to post meaningless messages that are just going to start trouble then why don't you do it on a Triumph board?

Not that far, really. Less than 200 miles from Robbinsville, NC. Mostly on good roads, too, like the BRP or better. There are TONS of good roads in Western NC.

"Modified" S1 only running a 12.8 in the quarter? Sounds fishy to me.

If I remember correctly it was Shaun Higbee who ran an 11.8 quarter on the rear wheel of a stock TL1000S. Based on this comparison and the 12.4 quarter that the Triumph ran we can safely assume that Suzuki (and therefore all Jap bikes) reigns vastly superior to Triumph, thus Triumph should only race other Triumphs. :)

Is that a route of 28 and the Gap? Or is that more 221-181-194 area?

It's a local road called Buck Creek.
It starts out beside Lake Tahoma.
Near my hometown of Marion, NC.

Granted, the tube-frame Buells have been known to have some reliability issues but they are still sweet machines.

2 years ago before the XB's came out you would never have heard anyone here actually admit that.
Sure am glad times have changed & people are more understanding.

Bomber, the Gap as you know is a great road, but there are so many others that are a lot better. The whole area is loaded with sweet roads & they arent crowded.

yer right, Greg . . .Grounder and me found some GREAT ones . . . .remind me to tell you about . .. . oh, never mind, the Barney Bike would never negotiate THAT road . . .. . .(grin)

had a gas, and actually only ran the gap three times in 4 days (not counting towing the scoots with the Pickup, in which we were unable to equal your 80mph speed with the ranger, btw)

Dyna...Let's take the challenge! Glider's on the GAP!!! You got a truck, let's dog John and Roger next spring. Gee, maybe if you had room for 4 bikes we could tease them with those as well.

John, Rog...Just kidding, but sure wish I could have hitched a ride down there with ya.

Easy now. I own a Speed Triple and a Buell XB. The SP3 is damn nice in the corners, fast as hell, and the sound of a triple on full throttle is sumpin to behold. I suggest you bashers read more about them before you fling the negativity. Funny how parts for my SP3 come across the pond quicker than I can get parts from Wisconsin. I love both bikes, but the Buell doesn't stand a chance, IMO, in most, and I say most road situations against the triple.
