There's really not a lot to say . . . . you are either shopping for function and buy the Buell or looks and buy the Ducati. Motorcycle or Art . . you decide Duh? |

If you were at the tech seminar led by Erik at Homecoming 2007 you would buy the TT |

The reviewer was upset that the gas cap dosen't have a string on it.... I don't recall ever leaving the gas cap behind, oh possibly because my key is in it! |

The reviewer was upset that the gas cap dosen't have a string on it.... Sounds like he was wearing something else that had a string on it! |

I do know that there seem to be an awefull lot of Hypers on the used market with very few miles. Try finding a used TT for sale. |

Rick: Not a terribly scientific statistic. Could it be that a lot more Hypers were initially SOLD? |

The Super TT is an awesome bike. Jimmy Filice stated in the article that once he stopped over revving it in the lower cogs at the track, he felt that he was lapping faster on the TT than he had on the Hypermotard (which had Ohlins suspension), which looks like another fantastic Ducati as well. |

The TT was mis understood. Perhaps if they offered the numberplates in translucent Hero Blue... |

It wasn't the plates that killed the TT is was marketing plain and simple. it was this VS This Do you want the cool crossed up motarad or the white bike and a jumbo marker? I love the TT but I have to agree with the guy I heard it from the market fell about 50 yards shy of the endzone... |

Very cool review. Glad to see a test rider figure out how to work a Buell engine for once. It sure would be nice to see what a de-tuned XBRR plant with its wider power band would do in Buell's street bikes- it might just silence that "narrow power band" complaint once and for all. |

You can't buy the TT anymore but didn't the '09 Ss start using the same suspension setup? Basically it's just a solo seat, beak, and hand gaurd set away from being a TT. |

I thought this tied in really well with the discussion over the 1125R. This review shows how a Buell competes when a well sorted trouble-free bike is delivered to the magazine. Instead of the review being clouded by flaws, they were actually able to test the motorcycle as conceived by Erik Buell. I don't agree with Court that the difference is between buying art and buying a motorcycle. They both performed extremely well as motorcycles. Besides a 30 mile difference in range, they seemed roughly tied as far as utility goes. The thing I liked the most about this article is that when I was done reading it, I would have bought the Buell. It's performance was a near tie on paper, and the article mentioned that the Buell actually felt faster. Then you have to factor in that the Buell as tested was $2,500.00 cheaper than the Ducati. If I was in the market for one of these bikes, Buell would have gotten my money. It really is a shame that the TT was killed. Again... my guess is that not too many people were shopping for super-motards at the Harley dealer. I wish the 1125R would have been better sorted out because if it was, I bet the results would have been similar to the ones from this test with Buell vs Ducati vs Benelli performance being a push and Buell being the better value by a wide margin. Actually, I'd say it's a good thing the Hypermoto has such a short range on a tank of gas. Having sat on and ridden my friend's Hypermoto, I wouldn't want to sit on that thing for too long anyway. |

I thought it was a good review. I can't recall reading a bad review about the TT. I may be off base but I think one thing that killed it is the fact that it didn't stand out enough from in the XB line. I think most people saw it as just another streetfighter with a different look. It seemed most people were turned off. The end result didn't matter, to most it looked like Buell wasn't trying(that's not to say they weren't). Again, call me crazy but this is where I think the trilogy of tech comes at a price. Excellent tech but a lot harder to make different models really stand out as being different and for different purposes. The Uly is the standout in that regard. I think they nailed it. I wish they would apply that thinking to some of the other XB variants. If someone is turned off by one XB, they're likely to be turned off by all the rest. I don't think it has to be that way. |

The Hypermotard is a great LOOKING bike. The Super TT iswas a great PERFORMING bike. It was killed by marketing. The message was pretty much if you are stupid enough to buy this bike, we'll sell it to you. The marketing for the Ducati, on the other hand, was stellar. I flew to the factory and rode the TT to see what all the commotion was about and it was one of the finest bikes I've ever ridden. It was an absolute hoot. I would not, by the way however, rule out the Hypermotard (they are all over the city) for use here in Gotham . . it's just a damn good looking bike. |

If they would have sent a well sorted M3 1125R Cyclone to the test, it would have been a slaughter on both the great PERFORMING and great LOOKING front. I was taking a break from a ride this weekend, drinking a Gatoraid and looking at my orange/grey M2. To me, the round-headlight tubers look as fresh today as when I first saw them. I would like to see them again. Bill |

Who are these marketing people?!? If there was a bike to kill off, you think the next one on the block is the Blast! It didnt even make the brochure. If they had had the TT when I was shopping, I would have that ride in the garage. I would have to have a different screen name though. |

I can't believe a tarted up XB compared so well to a tarted up Multistrada. I figured the Ducati would trounce the TT in every category but the Buell is pretty competitive with it. Amazing the things Buell has done with the pushrod XL engine. I'm gonna miss that TT. |

Funny how the 1000DS engine is often over-hyped...while the XB12 motors are of oft maligned. |

As I've stated before, the STT was a solution looking for a problem. From a marketing standpoint, the HM is the Ginsu Knife of motorcycles. It simply cuts. It ain't a tourer. It ain't a dual sport. It's a purpose built hooligan machine. The problem is that the STT is a Henkel and will give the HM a run for it's money in everything but the looks and hype department. What a shame. Buell looking for any marketing people? |

I considered the HM last year. Was not impressed with the carbon on the S model. Their supplier gave them a low quality piece. Looked like a bad sticker simulation of carbon. Seating position seemed nice to me in the showroom. Much more comfy than the 1098. But the usual not out the door for less than $1500-$2000 over MSRP threw any sale out the window. If I was choosing between the two it would be the TT. Better pricing, better value, more durable plastics. Goodbye TT we'll remember you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSoykHwQBe0 |

I wonder why they didn't include the BMW HP2 Megamoto? Aprilia just introduced something into this space too. |

There's also the KTM Super Duke though not sure it would fit. The 950 SM would have fit but I believe it's discontinued along with the SE. |

I've been waiting to test the Ducati for a year. The Boss was flown over to the launch in Aus, but several times we've had a local bike booked in and several times a punter has written it off or crashed it before we get it. They all think they are Xaus in that pic and bin it. (Message edited by danger_dave on August 19, 2008) |
