25 Years Of Buell - anyone got their copy yet? Homecoming is fast approaching....I pre-ordered a while ago, just wondering if they'd started shipping yet (and it's too late / I'm too lazy to actually go to whitehorse's website to check the ship date, lol)
g'night...

Yeah...what CorporateMonkey said. I checked Amazon just last week. I'm looking forward to the book, especially since I won't be able to go to Homecoming.

On the book front there is good news and there is bad news.

The good news is that the book looks GREAT and we will have 200 at Homecoming available for sale.

The bad news is that these 200 will be the only books in the country.
There was indeed an issue with the printing.

I am not sure exactly what it was but the entire Whitehorse press run got pushed back tow months because of a problem at the printer. The attempted to get 500 books air freighted to them so that they could ship the books that were preordered and we could have books at homecoming and most arrived very badly damaged and are unsellable.

We decided that it was best to have books at homecoming for people to see and buy. If we had gotten all 500 we could have shipped the books that Whitehorse had orders for and brought them to Homecoming.

The press is running now and when all the titles that Whitehorse is running are done the entire container will ship to the US and Whitehorse will start filling orders. Looks like late July before this happens.

Sorry about it but is one of those things. Great effort was made to rectify the situation but it didn't work. No one ins more upset than Court, I and Dan at Whitehorse about this.

See you all at HC

>>>No one ins more upset than Court, I and Dan

That's an accurate statement. The saving grace is that every book available is on a truck headed for the receiving docks at East Troy.

The great news is that the thing came out spectacular. . , far exceeding what I had expected in terms of print, paper and build quality. I have one and am in negotiation to well it . . .to my Mother. Look she either comes up with the cash or walks.

: )

Now this really sucks.....

I can't make HC and now I gets to wait longer for the book.

But on the bright side, I like my new job! Not the lowest man on the union roster. Pretty close though.

They say Good things come to those who wait (I should know, I waited over three years to get my bike) so I'll be patient.

July 7th is only a couple more weeks away anyway.

We appreciate the effort made to get books to homecoming! having said that...I already called "dibs" on one on another thread! ; )

I pre-ordered, but I won't be able to wait if I see one.

Besides, I need to get it autographed by the writers/photographers, Erik (....uh what was his name again?), and John Flickinger

Dave/Court,

You guys GOTTA get a few copies autographed by you and Erik and some of the key players

THEN auction them off to raise funds for SOME worthy charity.

Damn, I'd like a signed copy too but sadly I won't be able to make it to Homecoming. Being stationed in Italy is tough (yeah right) but the airfare to get back stateside is just stupid. Oh well, I can definitely say that I'll enjoy the book any way I can get it.

No worries. . . . everyone will get there books and I'm betting we can get the whole signing thing sorted out.

My Mom told me "write something special in the front" so I put a note "Mom, you owe me $26 . . Love, Court" didn't figure I'd get written out of the will . . anyway, I thought it was funny even if she didn't.

Ideal situation would be to get the entire load sold as quickly as possible at Homecoming so we don't have to be hauling books about. I've got lots of folks I'm eager to see and lots to do, it's much more time consuming than when there were like 7 of us (which was most the Buell owners in the country) at homecoming.

They're going to sell for $26 bucks at homecoming (yep, we've got to pay sales tax as Dave (the one of us who is a genuine resident of Wisconsin) has a busy schedule that allows not time to serve a jail term. Anything you can do to have proper change and keep me from wearing one of those goofy change making aprons would be wondermous.

I suspect we're going to have quite a fun time. . . .

Let me see if Mom's check clears . . . if not, I'll get back to you on her book. As for the e-bay thing, we can fix that by just signing them all "Sorry for the stain the cat left on page 77".

: )

I was going to grow up this year but plans changed . . .

Court - timesaver: put them at the registration desk at the host hotel. Two birds, one stone...so to speak.

>>>So much for my pre-order.

Yeah . . major bummer. Of the first shipment of 500 a few more than 200 were literally destroyed. Next time you see the FedEx guy punch him out.

In the big scheme of what I've been through the last 2 months I'm calling this one a "minor inconvenience" not a big problem.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. I was looking at the Buell owners list from the first Homecoming last night.

To quote Paul Simon (Concert in Central Park) . .. "it looks like we have a few more folks here than we'd planned on".

I've done a lot of thinking and writing about this year's Homecoming event, some of the personalities and some of the emotions playing up to it. In addition, there have been a couple pretty hilarious stories related to planning this years event. Perhaps fodder for the next book.
