bet you put a lot more miles on this bike Dana. Hell you only had what, about 5000 or so on the old bike? |

Yeah thats about it,did more spit polishing then anything else.Gonna miss that bike alittle but I'll get over it.The 12S is alittle better in the comfort department. And this bike isn't going to get any chrome, just the race kit once I find out that it run's well without the stock muffler. |

I think I would leave the race kit alone. The bike in stock form is so much stronger & better than your old one that you are nowhere capable of being better than the bike. The only reason I can see for changing the exhaust is the poser noise status. |

I'm really not after any performance out of it just some noise, not used to the quiet. But just don't want to lose a bunch of bottom end by installing it. |

if the sound of the 12's race muffler is anything like the one for the 9's, I personally wouldnt waste my $$$ on it. You want noise for the sake of it, go get yourself the D&D. I heard it on Gearloose's 12S on saturday & it sounded good. Nobody knows what it does to the bottom end torque tho. Yet anyways. |

Dana...Have not read much on the XB12's yet. Suggest that all you do until the performance mods and techniques are refined that you simply put it on a Dyno and check for lean spots. A digital fuel optimizer will rectify any that may exist and will most likely still be required if you add the race ECM. Until then, just enjoy the bike as is. Stock it puts out almost as much rear wheel HP as my modified X1 and if all I hear and read is true, it handles better. FYI, I still find it hard to believe that you traded the "chopper" in on the XB12. You put so much time, effort and money into it I thought for sure that would be your collector/show bike. Was even looking forward to reading about the mods you had planned for this winter. Oh well, at least I will get to read about what you do to the XB12. Enjoy!!! |

If he is smart all he will do is ride it. His old bike never got ridden much becuase he put too much time & money into it. Bikes are for riding. Women are for looking at. |

Have to agree! Doing my best to not be hypocritical (my engine has seen a lot of performance work in the past... and to the shop's credit, it's been very reliable)... but keep it well-tuned... and stock! Unless you're racing or competing for bragging rights in dyno shoot-outs, you'll be happier about it in the long run. Save the $$ for tires! Lately, I've been riding a lot with some riders with much less powerful bikes than mine. It can be a humbling experience... and I'm not a bad rider. Believe me... you don't need any more power than that XB will deliver. |

Well what really broke the camel's back was at the 20th for the Battletrax. Here's a bunch of guy's having a ball and all I can say is."Did ya see my nice shinY bike buy the front door"I loved that bike but somewhere along the line I forgot how much fun I could be having with my BUELL.Don't get me wrong I would love to have my old bike back again to finish but at this time I can't do both and live happily ever after with Mrs. BadS1.The XB12S will not be BLING BLING. |

That I guess is what the new generation is calling all the chrome and shiny stuff these day's,I don't know just trying to sound cool again.Nope no money pit just exhaust (race kit?) nothing else. |

Bads...Thanks for the vocabulary lesson. Can't wait to go try it out on the HD crowd with the new Wide Glide. Damn, dropped the Buell off for service and dropped a C-note on chrome for the WG. Yikes...at least it gives a longer lasting high than some of the other stuff I tried in the same price range. |

Bill, yep Bling bling has been around for a little while. Have fun buying all the Bling Bling for the glide. And just cause you chrome the shit out of it, doesnt mean you cant ride it. I've added so much chrome to mine yet still ride it in the rain, I dont care if it gets dirty. Thats what they make chrome cleaner & towels for. I really really cant wait to get a real paint job, gonna look 1000% better. |

but keep it well-tuned... and stock! Unless you're racing or competing for bragging rights in dyno shoot-outs, you'll be happier about it in the long run. Gotta agree 100%. You ever notice how it seems like the most reliable bikes & the ones with the most miles on em are the stock ones? |

I want a second opinion!!! Has anyone outside of the Racine/Kenosha, Wisconsin area hear of chrome accessories being referred to as bling bling? This is just too funny! |

Bling bling Yep, I've heard of that term. I understand that it means any shiny stuff that is just for looks. I think it started with the boyz in the hood and their cars but I also heard it on one of those Biker Build Off shows. I think that guy in Florida used the term bling bling. I can't remember his name right now but he does build some cool bikes. I just looked it up. His name is Billy Lane. edited by m2me on September 16, 2003 |

The brothas down here use "Bling Bling" all the time. Either referring to wheels or grillin'. (Look that up in your ebonics dictionary.) JT |

Thanks guys. Now I am satisfied that Bads and Dyna didn't just make this up or that it was a local thing in the Racine/Kenosha area. You know, those folks down there are kinda weird. Almost as weird as the beer belchers in Milwaukee. LOL |

Most of the people around here have started ot shorten it up to just being "bling". You know, "got me some bling for my bitches". That sort of thing. Craig
