Smitty,

I consider the Saab Car like a Buell a bunch of little minor problems that are very easily repaired.

I currently drive a 1989 2-Dr 900s and use it every day. I just wanted something different. After the small stuff was fixed the car is in better condition and rides nicer than most 2000 model year cars.

Never sweat the small stuff. You only come this way once so just as well enjoy it the first time around.

I agree. I love my 96 and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. The car looks great. I fixed all of the things myself at home. The new model has a few unique common little quirks. Just trying to help ya save a little time I wasn’t trying to offend ya.

Newf:

You're gonna love it! We just swapped a 2001 for a 2003 and after tons of "what should we get?" ended up buying a 2003 identical down to each nut and bolt to the old 2001. My motto (with the exception of trucks) is "never buy a car from anyone who doesn't make military fighter jets as a sideline". The more you drive the Saab, the more you'll understand how well thought out it is. Ever had "night panel" on a car before? You wouldn't be familiar with it unless you're a pilot.

You'll love it!

Thanks Court,

As posted I drive a 89 900s 2-dr and absolutely love it. I have owned about 4 others over the years as well and it seems I have always come back to these cars. Especially the earlier Saab 900s, 99s etc, etc in my opinion were very overengineered (if thats a bad thing).

They are easy to repair and if maintained will last forever. The problem up here is that we use a hefty amount of salt on the roads in the winter so the body usually dies long before the mechanical does.

I fly to Toronto, Ontario this Friday to pick it up before driving it home to the Rock. I may stick around Ontario to do some sight seeing for the weekend then blast back to the rock.

On another note I want to be back home fairly quickly as there is an International Motor Sport Event happening here next week. I only wish they would let unique bikes run. If anyone is interested I am always available to be a tour guide.

Well my little sister called tonight to ask me about a Vulva F70. Heck I'm a volkswagon diesel guy, a tinkers dream, almost as much fun as working on the bike! Heck, I still got one tucked away out back in the tall grass(just in case that Y2K bug ever catches up to us)

I had one of the early Volkswagen Rabbit Diesels which was non-turbo.

You could go about a month on a tank of fuel but on steep hills it was almost faster to get out and run.

I swear as it approached a hill it used to say "I think I can, I think I can!!"

My best VW was the 89 Jetta Diesel, 325,000 miles, Sold it to the lady across the street for her police dog training class. 82 MPH with the air on and I could still get 42 miles per gallon. The only tires that would not vibrate on it were Michelins, who woulda thunk? The boys want to make a orv out of the 81 but they can't get close to the thing till the hornets die out this winter.

Nice truck, Josh. Interesting color choice :)
How many miles on the old one when you sold it? It was over 180,000 last year, wasn't it?

211000. I sold it to my dad as his 1949 Chevy is starting to show it's age. ;)

I miss the 5spd in the old one. None of the dealers I went to had seen a 4x4 manual before I showed them mine.

Autos suck. But do have good resale ;)

get the K&N filter, and possibly a flowmaster, makes the truck all that much better....

If i can find pics of me and my old ZR2 at Silver Lake Sand Dunes i will show ya.. lets just say...i tested the hell out of that Leased truck.. hehehe Good choice on the color too

Josh,
I've got a '97 S-10 extended cab, 4x4 with a 5 speed. I'm told that less than 2 percent of the 4x4s were built with a manual.

Hey,

No shittin on the Saab.

I absolutely love this thing,

Just detailed the exterior tonight and does she ever look nice, even with the top up.

Rednecks CJ - tehehehehehehe. Thats Funny.

But seeing its been 25-30degrees here the past week the top has been down.

I already starting to miss the S1 which is parked in the garage (once again some people get a real kick out of how I say that).

I hope she don't get too jealous over the car and not start or something. I wonder how they are going to get along while in the garage together this winter.

Oh well must go drive the car for a while.

Looks like the weather here for the rest of the week is gonna be in the high 70's during the day and the 50-60's in the evenings.

Damm this is very unusual for this time of year but gotta take advantage of it.

CJ,

Fly that new bike up here and I can break it in for you or you come up with the bike seeing my weather is better than yours. Roads up here I could get you riding would make you really appreciate that XB and how it handles.

Just bring a bunch of the guys with ya as well so we can start next years party early.

Took the car to the usual biker hang out last night and was shunned by my ex-Harley riding counterparts (they are a little pissed since I resigned as the director of their little group) for taking my car out for coffee.

One of them asked me how the ride was in the convertible and I responed "Well Boys, kinda like an Electra Glide but with power options, bigger engine and a fantastic rain suit!!!", I made sure the sport bikers hanging there could hear me and after the laughter subsided I followed up with a Boys, If I had to explain you would not understand!!!"

I guess I won't be invited to next weeks Pig Roast.

Oh well
