I have to get a pair of boots for my motorcycle safety class next week. I want lightweight over the ankle black in color don't look too goofy for the office Last real pair of boots I owned were a pair of Wellco Army Surplus Jungle combat boots. They had great support and wore like iron. I can't find a pair in my size so need a plan "B". So? What would the group recommend? |

Icon Chukkas. I'm wearing them in the office right now with khakis. Most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, period. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?Ar ticleID=5444&Page=1 I wouldn't exactly call them light weight, though. They're hefty, without being heavy. They remind me of some of the Sketcher shoes with the heavy soles. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on April 25, 2008) |

Anybody have experience with the Altama Tactical boots? Light and seem to be pretty cool. The have a gel pack in the sole for comfort. Again, having trouble finding something to fit my 11 EEE feet. (Think Don Martin from the old Mad Magazine) |

Vendramini Aero: http://www.bikerworldusa.com/vendramini/404gb.html Come in black. Over the ankle with armor. Vented for hot weather. Vibriam sole. Wear like iron. Can be resoled. On my third season and they still look like new. Look fine with pants/jeans. REALLY comfortable. |

I got some nice looking Joe Rocket boots, and am fairly underwhelmed with them. The kick start lever on the KLR ripped chunks out of them, and the vinyl (that was claimed to be leather) is cracking. For form factor, they were perfect. Over the calf and fit under riding pants, single aluminum buckle with strap, velcro. The quality of materials and construction just wasn't there though. So take them off your list... |

The only hitch is that that have to be suitable for the office. Normal work attire is dress slacks and a long sleeve shirt, sometimes with a tie (bleech). So they can't be obvious biker boots but more like dress shoes, at least for the parts not covered with pant leg material. (Message edited by zane on April 25, 2008) |

I favor the Justin Roper boots for the kind of service you are talking about. Not a cowboy boot, or a motorcycle boot, just a plain old boot. They take a shine, and look good under dress pants. They have a low heel, and a round toe. They come in a variety of grades, the high grade ones are nice, have a rubber sole.

I just picked up a pair of Brahma SWAT boots at Walmart for the season. Not a riding boot, but more than I usually wear. Black per request. Steel toe. Over the ankle. No slip / oil resistant soles. Nicely stiff & solid. Good looking. Can't remember if I paid $27 or $37 - they were very reasonably priced. Sorry, no pics on me at the moment... |

I've had the earlier version of these Oxtar boots for ~3 years now and they've been great. Comfortable for riding or walking, 100% waterproof and they've held up well. http://www.motoemporium.com/oxtar/jupiter/jupiter. html |

SiDi... Meets most of your criteria. Goofy for the office? Maybe, I wear 'em, but I'm a bit goofy anyways..

Leave your office shoes at the office and change when you get there. |

Turnagain, Great photos on your website. You must have been in the Tampa Bay area, I saw the shot of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. That's about 25 miles south of where I live. Just_ziptab, For a normal office that might work but not mine. I don't dare leave my shoes at work. The office is full of clowns and I'd spend more time hunting for my shoes than wearing 'em or some one would paint them with white out. They're quite a crew...lol I really got to learn how to spell. Sidi makes a boot called the sport tepor. It looks like a normal boot with pants pulled down over the top. They are also comfortable to walk in. |

So why don't you wear some decent safety gear and bring what you need to wear at the office in a backpack? That's what I do. A bit of a pain in the ass, but I ride safe and still look good in the office. |

Go on motorcyclesuperstore web site. Look at the Icon boot on sale for $49. Meet all your requirements. Hurry - popular sizes selling fast. Order at least 1/2 - 1 size larger than you dress shoe. |

Zane, Sidi will make you the boots in your size. I'm an 11 EE and when I went clipless on my mountain bike, they were the only ones. I've tried all the Icon boots, etc at Iron Pony and may end up ordering some Sidi's |

try Redwing boots. They make them for all sizes. Some motorcycle specific some not but all work boots that are extremely well made. Can be a little pricey but you can go to the store and try them on as well. |

I got a pair of Altama boots. Very light and have gel packs in them for comfort. They look ok for the office, not great but ok. This model can also be had without the zipper. Big thing is they are comfortable as can be. I'm big into comfort...lol
