It was a totally disappointing test ride. Way to short. I could only make very general impressions of the bike. Of course I am not really in the market right now and they knew it. One day though. About the only things I could tell from my really short ride is that the 1125r is totally different from the XBs I have ridden in that you have to rev it much higher just to take off. I was not smooth at all with the bike. It actually choked off on me a couple of times till I realized more gas, more gas! Then it was let off the gas, let off the gas! It would definitely take me some practice on the bike to get smooth. I thought the XBs were much easier to ride. I think I am just used to loads of torque down low and I'm not used to have to rev the engine so much. It did have plenty of power as far as I could tell on my so limited ride. I just sucked at modulating it. Too little, too much, too little, too much. Is that how the inline 4 sport bikes ride? Also, I am not used to all the weight on my wrists. That would take some getting used to as well. And I felt sorry for that little nub of a gear shifter. It must really have gear shifter envy. Still, I can see how in more capable hands, or even mine with more time to adjust, it could be a fun bike. It was way smoother than the XBs. And while some have complained of heat, I didn't feel any. Maybe it was because my ride was so short. Basically, the ride just made me want to try it again when I can ride it a bit further. Oh, and maybe with a curve or two thrown in. I did get the hydrator by the way. When I took it home my wife made fun of it. She said it looked like something only geeks would use. |
