Kimber's are sweet. I love my Sig P239 in 40. Very accurate to 25 yds. I have a Sig P232 in 380 and can hit golf balls at 22 yds consistently. Both are for my CCW. Just shoot the model before you buy. Good luck. |

Whichever fits YOU. I've never been a fan of Glocks. They work fine, but the grip angle and shape is all wrong for me. People tell me I'd get used to it, but no thanks. 1911's always fit me like a glove (more so with a long trigger, flat mainspring housing, and hi-grip safety).
The Taurus PT1911 is the best deal going...I like the 'real' thing...
I prefer the single action trigger and safties on 1911's as well. |

I tried a glock rental at a range a few years ago, it was fun, but not engaging somehow. (Sound like a 'tuber' discussion?)
I was reminded about 1911s after a 30 year 'vacation' (since the Army.) Now I have a bunch of them, and have shot them in IPSC, IDPA, and NRA Conventional ("Bullseye" matches. 1911s can be analagous to tuber Buells in several respects. They aren't the newest thing, but classics that continue to get the job done. And just 'engaging' on a visceral level that glock plastic is incapable of (for me.) They are infinitely customizable to suit almost any purpose one can use one. I have a 1911 tailored for each type of match I shoot, plus one for Home defense, and 'classics' just left as they are; a WW1 gun, a WWII gun, a 1932 Commercial model, and a Kimber (series 1) Stainless Target. I almost got the history of 1911 development represented in various models. Including 3 different brands of .22 conversion tops. I reload ALL my own .45 ammo for them too. Whole 'nother topic.

All Sig here. 226, 228. I would love to get a revolver for my CCW. The only thing Sig makes that is low profile enough is the Mosquito and I'm not carrying a 22 CCW.
Bullseyed a Skoal tin lid from no less than 45 yds with a Kimber Custom Shop. Sweet weps for sure but I need to make rank before I can afford one.
Xgecko, when were you in Guam. If it was recently, do you remember the armorer on the Navy base going nuts and shooting everybody in the armory? Yeah, that was a bad day! |

I was in Guam from 95-99 and then a dozen or two visits from 2000 to 2006. Thankfully I haven't been to Guam in 3 years and missed that event... |

IMHO as long as it shoots where you want and when you want it doesnt matter. For concealed carry I use a Series 70 1911 with all sights removed. For the bedroom drawer I have a HK USP in .45 |

By the way.... does anyone practice shooting from a moving motorcycle? I never tried it but they say its hard. |

Dick, it can't be that hard, I've seen Hollywood actors doing it all the time, & the good guys never miss.
The bad guys chasing couldn't hit a house though!
