As most of you know, I whacked a Saturn on my girlfriend's Kaw last week and I'm having a hard time finding crash parts. I can fix the tank and all the other items easily. The concern is the front end. I need fork tubes, but Forks by Frank isn't answering the phone and my local motorcycle salvage place will take a message but never returns my call. Does anyone know of any place I can find interchangeability information? 1983 Kawsaki KZ750 LTD |

go over to the Rice Paddy off of 17th and 4th street. You can probably get used stuff for that pretty easily. If not they will have all the info to get you back up and going pretty well. I've bought some stuff for my old man's 76 750, as well as some stuff for my tuber from there. |

I haven't found them to be particularly helpful. I called them twice last week. Someone took my info and promised a call back. Same thing Tuesday. I don't have time to wait for a call back so they can go f themselves. |

Try the forum over on http://www.kzrider.com/ Somebody there either has the parts, can tell you which parts from other kawis will work or will tell you where to get them.... |

Thumper, I have the service manual for that bike up at http://kz.mbsween.com if thats any help. you can go to here and look up part numbers on any year kawi, so you might be able to figure out what parts match that way. There are probably quite a few different forks that fit. The 81 - 84 years were like Buells, one basic motor/frame and various accessory bits to make the different models. Ebay is a great place for old parts as is z1enterprises.com. kzrider.com is the place to ask Kawi questions. I'm sure someone there will know what fits what. Now if you want to know about the L3 and KZ750R ...... |

If you're looking for interchangability, go to www.kawasaki.com and look for the part diagrams under owner info. They have part numbers listed for all bikes going back to 1965. You can find which KZ models and years had the same part numbers. It was indispensable when I was putting my GPz back together. I wish Buell would do that... |

Go to http://www.powersportspro.com We use them for Sunny's 1984 VF500F. they're great for new, old stock stuff. We haven't yet found parts that we couldn't get. She just rebuilt her carbs and we got EVERY rubber gasket, collar, sleeve and widget - springs, safety gizmos. We've gotten turn signals, hand and foot controls - they're an amazing resource. There are others out there too, it's just that I've used PowersportsPro - and they're OK. Look em up. Quick shipping too. Friend of mine also uses them for parts for his H2 Kawi 2-smoke. Your dealer can't get parts for you? |

I'm not having luck with these schmucks. Seems that ASK here has impolite retards. I went into one last week when they were slow and I had to approach the counter where three people were to get someone to talk to me. The parts department told me he didn't have time to check and see what the parts interchange to/from |

I've got an early '80's KZ750E with a good pair of forks. Let me know if you are interested, and I can pin down the year. |

Thump, One thing to think about is there are two different fork designs for the KZs. The LTD model have whats called a leading axle, meaning the axle mounts are on the front of the fork. The GPzs (KZ750R), Ls, Es and H models all have forks where the axle goes through the fork at the bottom. So changing to an R/E/L/H fork might change your steering characteristics. They'll certainly change the look of the bike. |

I checked, and mine is a 1981 750E (build date 6-1981). As Matt stated, it has the axle centered under the fork leg, not in front. |
