A friend of mine is asking me if I'd heard of this Traction Control Braking System - http://www.tcbbrakesystems.com/. He's wanting something to give him more braking control as he commutes daily in San Francisco rush hour traffic. I'm not familiar with it so I'm posting to see if any of you guys have heard of it, or have any experience with it. Thanks. |

I could be wrong, but I can not see how this can be good. ABS takes the approach of backing off the fluid pressure when it senses that the tire is about to lock up. This systems takes the approach of reducing the fluid pressure by introducing an air chamber. That will reduce brake feel and efficiency. No substitute for the real thing (ABS). It would be best to get information from somebody that actually has one installed on the bike. |

You could probably get the same effect by soaking your brake pads in Mobil-1. Maybe I should sell a kit. Bill |

Looks like yet another doo-dad designed to sell... if it were that good, it would be standard on all new bikes as a safety feature. I think the testimonials are most telling. |

After reading a review in full throttle or something I posted this product on the XB board to see if any one had heard of it.. Every one buried it.. The thing is No one has tried though... No one offered up additional link to a independent reviews. If its crap its crap, I'd like to see a another review... In the one I read the guy put it on his bagger and was happy with the results.. |

"The TCB automatically measures the coefficients of friction/amount of traction from the tires footprint (area of the tire touching the ground) to release the wheel from the point of total lock up which allows the wheel more ability to slip for total braking control. To get more in depth explanations go to http://tcbbrakesystems.com/technical-tcb.html." All that from a rubber diaphram and a bubble of air? We fight exactly what that product offers by using braided lines, keeping the system bled and filled with fresh fluid. Why did everybody bury it? It's the same reason most people don't need to taste a big spoonfull of the steaming brown pile in the pasture to know it's B** S*** and not chocolate pudding. I'm not sure by what percentage the product degrades your braking system to achieve the ability to grab a huge uncontrolled handfull of brakes at highway speed without lock-up. However, I am willing to bet you will find a lot more times you want that percentage back than times you want to give it up. Obviously, I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I wish the guy who put the self-destructing Hayden M-6 into my primary had the same level of healthy skepticism. Bill |
