Every year I go through this ritual and disassemble various parts of my X1 replacing various items. IRAN, Inspect, Replace As Needed. I call it this year the belt ( one of the new super belts ) it was a little fuzzy on the edge,
like most of us I run it SCARY LOOSE This afternoon I come back in ahead of a storm and see a tuft sticking out from the rear pulley I move the bike back and find this,
This could have been a problem 40 miles from the house. I have had an on going lurch / shudder problem Im going to try. 1. replace the belt AND sprockets 2. remove the shock and align the arm gearbox and axle centers and put some slack in the belt at that point [ probably about 5/8" or so. 3. Re check the gear box oil level bike verticle but not on jack stands perhaps to much oil on the clutch causing the squall and lurch I believe that I will replace the @$#@#$% sprockets this time too and see if the majic belt lasts longer this was a disapointment. On a much BRIGHTER note Ol Blue got me home and the belt may get me to the garage Just need to get the stuff and install it before march Badness. It's good to be lucky, |

lucky you didnt lose a few more teeth under hard exceleration. thats how i totaled my xb. lost 7-8 inches of belt. while it spit teeth out the motor got to free spool basically and when it caught some teeth that didnt give, over she went at about 70 or so. then end for end down the road. it did manage to get me home too though! |
