Well I met up with 'Finn' at our bike shop/cafe in town for a leisurely Saturday Morning Coffee.

Aucklanders take a ragging amongst the provincials for being 'pontsy city boy latte drinkers.' So we oblige.

Couple of flat whites, state of the nation, and half a muffin later he says 'come for a ride'. So we picked up Bruce on his v-rod and headed Norf.

We did some nice sportsbike roads on the back way to Warkworth

And a small Pizza for lunch at a nice pub next to the river.

Nice spot

The local hog lads arrived while we were there. I had a chat.

Passing wildlife

After lunch - at like 3.30pm - the lads had saturday night dates that they wanted to get back and make themselves beautiful for, so they headed home down Hwy 1.

Co-pilot was at work and due home for dinner and as I wasn't encumbered by a sealed-road-only bike I wents ex pah loring.

Maharangi Regional Park 7km said the sign - 'why not' said I.

What a beautiful place on a magnificent Summer day. Beautiful sportsbike road turned to nice gravel with a regatta in the background.

and i had a cruise along the beach

After a good poke around I headed South for a coke at the Puhoi Pub

but didn't spot anyone I knew - quite unusual - so I took to the dirt roads through the ranges.

and zig zagged and slid and drifted though about 100km of beautiful smooth gravel and some lovely twisty seal back to the city.

Got home about 7pm.

Damn Aucklanders - 8 hours for a coffee!

I love the Uly. It ran fine with the MV and then lets you go adveturing without caring about what the road turns into - shIttyer the better really.

'The Ducks Nuts' is kiwispeak for a really good thing.

Quack.

Wolfy - I moved here from my native land - for a 3 year stay - in the cause of the co-pilot's career.

This is now our 8th year here.

Why would a motorcyclist go home!

Dopey me... Oh, before I get to that.

Again.. great photos! And a nice latte run!

Back to the dopey part. I always think of NZ as much further south than it really is so I was surprised to see palm trees in one of the pics. When checking with Google Earth I find out that Auckland is the same latitude as Los Angeles (oppositely speaking).

So what's up with the dopey me part? Well, I was going to accuse you of cheating by pointing out that there's no palms in NZ. Good thing I checked first
