Ouch. Looks like you could work the fallen tree into a pretty good tale. But there are easier ways to fell a tree. Glad you ended up okay. |

FT_Bstrd, Are you currently running the Pilot Road 2's? If so, how do you like them? Any mileage reports yet? |

Tourquemonster, a new set of any tire will do fine. Read The Pace Learn it, Live it, Pass it on. I'm far from a safety nazi, but I really really want everyone to have a good time, without having any mis-adventure stories. Sanchez's accident really hit me hard. Not only is he one of my very best friends. Not only did it happen just feet ahead of me. It made me realize that sometimes shit happens, even when you're doing your best to avoid it. I also had my wife on the back of my bike. Thankfully, she handled the situation very well. So we packed up Sanchez and took him to the house, and fed him Ann's home cooking. OK...preaching done. Dana, no sweat man, after MB-V is over, I'll move this thread to the Storm Fronts section. Why is this event being promoted here on Quick Board and not on Storm Fronts where it belongs? We're special |

Fat's, thanks for the recommendation and link. I've been shopping for Corsa III's the past week. Just bought a set. That saved me quite a few dollars. See you at C3 Central! Take care... |

Torquemonster, I have run Avon Azaros, Avon Storms, and Diablo Stradas in Suches. All are fine. I DO recommend the newest tire possible. I will now only come down there with zero mile tires. I have come down there with tires twice with less than 1000 miles on them and nearly not made it home. I skulled a Strada at 1800 miles there. NEW tires are key!!!!! Thumper, I haven't strapped the 2CTs on yet. My first experience will be at Suches. I am assuming they will be similar to the Avon Storms I have on it now. I really liked them. Durable center. Sticky edges. I will say that I liked the Stradas least. I didn't care for the profile at all and never felt like they stuck well. |

Ft_b, Have you given any thought as to meeting us East Tennessee riders Thursday afternoon? I'm still flexing my schedule, but the other guys want to know. Orange, Squids, and myself, who are making the trip, and they have a couple of others that might go. We likely will have Gotj and Bill meeting with us to ride as far as the Dragon again. |

Twig, Fantastic! I'm glad you found what you needed! It was a great deal, and I knew someone needed tires. That group has some really good deals going. They just had a set of the regular Pilot Roads on closeout for like $199. If I knew I was going to be doing track days, I would be stocking up! |

Why is this event being promoted here on Quick Board and not on Storm Fronts where it belongs??? The largest Buell event in the country (world?) gets special promotion. And I love my Strada's! |

Thx Glitch. I almost picked up TOTW II last week, but thought I might read TOTW I first. I'll order a copy of "the pace" this weekend. Will definately be doing some reading before this trip. I call dibs on a spot at the rear. Now Im thinking of getting a sportier tire and not worrying so much about longevity. i.e. Pilot POWERS instead of pilot ROAD 2's or Conti SPORT attack instead of ROAD attack. If I do go this route, I guess I should just snag a set of the Diablos.... (Message edited by TORQUEMONSTER on January 18, 2008) |

If you pooch the entry speed or misread the apex, the difference in tire probably won't save you. I've ridden with people blistering sport touring tires and leaving most in the dust. I've also seen folks with racing rubber huck themselves off into the ditch. Reading and practicing the techniques in those books will make more difference than the compound in your tires. Mountainrider and his posse roll on Tomahawks from time to time in Suches. I DARE you to try to match their speed. |

Tourquemonster, The Pace isn't a book, it an article by Nick Ienatsch. It'll only take a few minutes to read, but it will last you a life time. Twist of the wrist, and other books are great for riding technique tips, but The Pace is IMHO is a required read. It's not about how to hit an apex, or drive out of a corner (both of which are good things to know, no doubt) it's more about riding. Read it, it's a classic. (world?) We've a long way to go to beat some of the events I've seen pictures of in Europe. We do however, love a challenge. Fatty, I only got about a 1000 miles out of the original Dunflops. I've a picture somewhere of what was left after that weekend. I'll look for it. |

I wasn't a big fan of TOTW. It seemed much more race track oriented than I wanted. I don't get on a track much, so memorizing points on a track is not something I care much about. I did, however, LOVE "Total Control". It was much more performance street riding techniques, rather than race track prepping. |

The Pace is an awesome read!! Also, watch the Discover documentaries on the Blue Angels, A Year in the Life (from 2006 I belive). Some of the mental stuff they use to keep the jets "spot on" while doing a show, work equally good on a motorcycle. It's all about being smooth, consistent and relaxed (but focused)! Speed will follow. Short story... Last Buelltober Fest I overcooked a corner coming down the South side of Blood Mountain. 129 was one lane down and 2 lanes up at that point. I lost focus for that millisecond and the next thing I found myself crossing the double yellow in a right-hander in an esse. Not a problem, cept for the Corvette coming up in the inside lane.... I was able to gather it up and get back into my lane, but that was definately a wake up call... As Glitch stated... Ride your own pace and be comfortable. Be ready to admit (at least to yourself) that your game just isn't "on" and ease back a notch... It works wonders. {End of Preaching} Buell on!!! Glitch, Look's to me like special is the case. We as in the Hal's group,Uke's group,Belle City group that have organized plenty on this forum have not been able to do this. We'd get something going then Blake would consolidate it and move it to a thread on Storm Fronts. You get to basically have a forum on it in a area that is not designated for Event activity.... I thought you were a Custodian. Or do you get special treatment. I kinda think its unfare, don't you think?? Put it in its rightful spot. Or maybe you can set up a Forum type thread for the Homecoming this year, here on the Quick Board also. |

> Sanchez's accident really hit me hard. Lol, it hit me pretty hard, too! Particularly in the ankle region. Seriously, though, every cloud has a silver lining. The 3%ers really lined my cloud. Glitch got me home from the hospital, put me up in his house, and took days off work to help get me back on my foot ... all at a time when he had problems of his own to worry about. I was (am still am) touched by his whole family's generosity, as well as that of Shred and New12R and the other 3%ers who picked me up when I was down. I couldn't ask for better friends. |

Dana, I seem to remember the HHR thread both before and after the event in Quick Board (I distinctly remember all the hubbub after.). It may have been moved at some point in time, but it was definitely here throughout. Buelltoberfest was also here as well both before and after. The policy might have been to move everything to Storm Fronts, but recently there have been several event postings in Quick Board. Dana, next Buell event you guys pull together keep an eye on it. If it gets moved to Storm Fronts, reference this discussion. I don't think anyone wants to be an unreasonable ogre. In just the short time I've been here, I have noticed major changes to policies, design, and arrangement of BadWeb. Practicality may have required that event postings be kept in Storm Fronts, but experience and needs have changed policy. I will try to be an advocate to help plead your case if you feel you are being unfairly treated in the future. Can't change the past, though. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on January 18, 2008) |
