Is any one using lower octane fuel like 87,instead of 91.

nope, using 95 or 98 in the UK

I use the highest pump gas I can get (usually 93 octane). If I use anything cheaper or of a less octane my bike runs like crap.

I've pretty much always used 89 because it is almost impossible to find any higher when travelling. Even around here few stations carry any higher.

Considering that I have 63,000mi. on the engine it doesn't look like I'm doing any harm.

I run 93, or in a pinch 91.

Then again I'm running 11.43:1 compression too so detonation is a significant threat with lower octane fuel.

Buellnuts - interesting article. I never knew there was a difference between preignition and detonation.

I ran 91 for 3000 miles or so then I ran 89 for a while didn't seem to make any differnce no (pinging).So I went down to 87 still runs the same no (pinging).I think in the summer I will have to run higher octane fuel do to pre ignition of lower octane fuel at higher temps.I have been running 87 for almost 5000 miles, the 91 was in the hot summer.

At 87 pump octane I hear pinging every time I roll on the throttle from low rpm. With 91 or better I'm good.

I can run just about anything in the Blast. It seems to have more power with premium and plus, but there's no pinging or ponging with 87 either in town or on the highway
