Okay, that's an exaggeration. I still love my new '08 Mustang GT. But everything I'd read said the GT's were like a missile off the line.

Guess they've never ridden an XB12.

My Long has spoiled me, I guess!

LOL! I'd love a supercharger... I just don't have $4000 to spend on one!

Thanks, BTW!

Very nice car. I love that they brought back that body style, or the new version of it.

Me too Pwnzor. I am a big fan of the new styling.
Out of all the 'retro' styling that has happend over the last couple of years, I think they did the best job so far on the Mustang.
And on the other end of the stick, they really pissed in my corn flakes with the crappy looking GTO. What a weak attempt that was.

Congrats! My wife still loves her '06 GT. It has near 50k miles on it.

Pypes has an awesome exhaust system for the car.

Ha! Same color!

I agree 100% on the GTO comment. Nice engine, pathetic styling. I've seen some renderings of the '08 model that is an improvement, but still looks like the futuristic bastard child of a Grand Am and a Sunbird.

You have to remember that we're talking about GM here. Was the GTO an amazing looking car? Not really, but it wasn't ugly either. The bottom line is it had a 400 hp V8 in a RWD chassis.

a couple years earlier and Pontiac would have been just as likely to slap a "GTO" badge on a Grand Prix with hood scoops.

The new GTO is going to be coming out shortly after the new Camaro and will share the same platform.

That new Camaro will be NICE!!! but I am afraid that GM will go way overboard on the pricing and the Mustang will still be the "poor mans muscle car" No offense Swordsman.

I would love to get a new Z28... or SS if they come out w/ that version.. but prolly gonna cost high 30's low 40's and that is way WAY too much for me

Swordsman, the new RWD V8 Pontiac Coupe (still unconfirmed on the name, hell even its existence is unconfirmed), will look nothing like that photo. I've been saving up to get it, whatever it is, but now I got my eye on this!

Think of it as a modern day El Camino, but with a 400hp V8. : )

I've keeping on my reading for the new Camaro and they haven't said much about pricing in a while, however, a year or two ago they said that a base V8 (sub-300hp) would be availible for around $20,000. Fogure in GMs low-balling and a couple years of inflation and I put it at $23-24k. The hot V8 (at least at first) probably won't be the 400hp LS2 from the GTO and Corvette, but more likely the 368hp V8 from the new Pontiac G8.

I think GM learned from their mistakes and the hot V8 will start no higher than $30,000.

Keep in mind the 400hp, 6 speed GTO was only $32-33k new.

As far as bikes ruining cars, it happens to me all the time. My mom had a supercharged Grand Prix that screamed. Then I got my first bike and the car was just boring.

They did that in 68' with the Tempest. The two were just about identical.

While I do love the new Mustang, I think Dodge hit the retro styling more squarely on the head. This is my favorite new car of this century.

GM's styling department has been punch drunk since the Pontiac Aztek fiasco. Who ever is in charge there needs to be sacked and severely 'sanctioned'... with extreme prejudice.

Props to Ford and Chrysler for getting it right. I'm a Chevy man and I'm not happy at all with new Camaro, the new trucks, or even what the Corvette morphed into.

General Motors just doesn't get it.

To each his own - I've seen the Camaro (magazines and in person) and gorgeous is the only word that rightfully belongs to it. As far as I'm concerned, everything about how that car looks is just about perfect.

I'm also a hige fan of the new trucks - MUCH better than the slant-eyed things they were making for a couple years there. And the Corvette is another beautiful car.

The Mustang isn't a bad looking ride. But that Charger - I just don't get the hype. It's like they took an old one and smoothed all character lines out of it. It has no personality and hardly looks modern. The Mustang at least looks like the started with a 68 and put it in a wind tunnel - the Charger looks like they started with a 70 and put it in a sand blaster.

Dj, GM did sack the old designers a few years ago. Bob Lutz is now in charge of Global Product Development and its taken some time but we are starting to see the fruits of his labor with things like the new Camaro, Vette, trucks, Malibu, CTS, HHR, Solstice, Sky and much more. Lutz is a car guy, not just a business man, so he understands his job and what people want. I am not sure how you don't like the Camaro, Vette and the trucks, because they are almost unanimously loved.

Bob Lutz belly landed a plane once because he forgot to put the wheels down before he landed.

I wouldn't want him flying my plane... and I don't think I'd let him take my bike for a ride.

Gjwinaus, I have been begging GM to bring it here for years. Bob Lutz already basically confirmed that it is coming. There are a few things holding it back, mainly the exchange rates, but the second the HSV Maloo comes here with a Pontiac badge on the hood, ill have it. : )

Dj, **** happens. It's not like you can make that mistake twice, lol.

Blackbelt, certainly no offense taken. The Mustang is universally known as best bang for the buck. I really got it more for the styling than the power. It's literally 50% old, 50% new... with a few add-ons, you can make it look 100% of either. To me, that's just plain cool. I don't plan on adding too much... rear window louvers, front chin spoiler, rear decklid blackout, maybe some rocker panel stripes. At some point I'd like to add a ram air hood or a shaker intake, and maybe a set of wheels last of all. The supercharger would be nice, but I don't foresee ever getting that one cleared with the wife... $4k is a mighty big investment.

I haven't liked Vettes in a long time. but that new Camaro IS sweet! Last I read it was coming out in '09 with a 6 liter, or something like that... if so, it'll be WAY outta reach for the like of me.

The Challenger is AWESOME. It's being introduced with a monster of an engine as well, however, so it too will be pricey.

That "Pontiacamino" is funky! I like it, though I'd probably never bite.

Bad, the SSR is gone. It was overpriced, under powered and over weight. It got better over the years, but being as practical as a Corvette, costing more than a corvette and being slow as a 4 cylinder family car, it didn't do as well as expected. They bumped up the power to 400hp for 2005, and offered it with a manual, but it was still hard to justify the $42k price tag.
The HSV Maloo holds the title as the worlds fastest production pickup (172.22 mph), is lighter, handles better and should be much cheaper than the SSR if it does make it stateside.

I was shocked when I looked at the new Mustang. Over here they're a lot of money compared to the dollar retail. I see how they can churn them out at low cost. That's a lot of dull looking plastic interior for what should be a nice looking thing inside as well as out. The few I've seen up close over here have all been auto. Where's the fun in that? Stick shift, rear wheel drive, LSD. I assume they're options?
