I recently had to give up my "Pager Only" pager that I used in the UP just last year. I also still have a tone dialer for use with pulse dialing rotary phones. I remember the old cell phones had alot of amplifiers and stuff wired to them to make them work. |

I laughed watching wargames when the kid had to pick up the phone and place it on the modem for his computer to get on the internet. As a piece of trivia, the reason the modems were like this is that AT&T was "THE PHONE COMPANY." They wouldn't let you just plug stuff into their network like you can today. If you wanted to hook it to the telephone line, you had to buy it from them. The "acoustically coupled" modem was a way to get around this. The sometime around the mid 80's the government broke up AT&T and you could actually buy a phone from someone other than the phone company. |

Anyone else want to admit to wearing multiple swatch watches in the eighties? complete with the swatch "guards". I never got into the swatch watch craze myself, but a friend of mine has a huge collection. He kept all of his original watches, and I am jealous to admit some of those watches are worth the price of a new car. He has an original Keith Haring in the box. My craze was van's shoes. Infact I still wear checkerboards to this day. I have a closet full of them. Court, as a comm geek myself I have quite a collection of vintage phone gear, but I still do not have a working Brick. You wouldn't be hiding one would you? For the uber geek (I know this will make some here salivate) did you know that Motorola still makes bag phones? they make new digital versions. I have been meaning to pick up a pair (GSM/CDMA + AMPS) for the fun of it. First I need to get a globalstar phone while they still have unlimited calling. I had an iridium phone for a short while. Pure phone madness... |

I bought mine for my wife actually. I was looking for a 77 - 79 but this was $1500 and virtually nothing wrong with it the digital dash even works . I have an exhuast leak and the rear seat is a little thin at top from the son. The radio and speakers are shot but they are original so they stay. |
