Might as well put on some XB covers while you are at it,less parts and gaskets to leak. Easier to polish or chrome too. |

The rockers were actually the easiest thing I polished on my bike. No prep at all, just hit them on the wheel and BLAM Shiiinnnney... |

Mine have some outer corossion from the SOUTH Florida enviroment.... I am having to lightly sand them to get the oxidation off then buff... but its taking MORE time than I thought... Might as well just finish them... What is the ADVANTAGE of XB rockers??? Whats a price on them??? Thanks, Matt. |

you just need the tops!!! throw away your current middle. keep the bottom piece. if you think the originals are hard to polish just wait till you see the sand cast xb rocker. i painted my 2nd set flat black because i couldn't see trying to polish another set. break out the sandpaper. tim |

Paint might be the way to go if you get a lot of corrosion. If you do polish get some good sealer or clear coat. The XB rockers have top vents for the crank case so that you can plug the vents on the side of the heads. Also they are less prone to leak... or so I hear. |

Here's example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHROME-ROCKER-BOX-COVER-fits-HARLEY-XL-SPORTSTER-86-up_W0QQitemZ250174059257QQihZ015QQcategoryZ35557QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Actually, I have a pair of plain M2 tops left over from when I changed to the CCE billet finned tops. I think I could ship them in the $4 Priority envelope, so I would sell for say $30 shipped? If you decide to go that route, anyway. (Message edited by jayvee on November 05, 2007) |

Hey Jay, That XB rocker cover kit you posted a link to is for polished XB rocker covers, hence the $225 price. It was about $115 for the XB rocker cover kit from Appleton of Wisconsin. The extra scratch Al charges is for the polishing... which I heard (from him, so you know it's true) is of spectacular quality. I think (not sure about this) Al throws in the hard to get button head fasteners to close out the old breather holes too. |

All the tube-framed should be the same, is what I thought, but can't say with certainty. XB changed to the 'spacer-less' 2-part style, and then Sportsters changed too in '04. I'm also not sure about XB and '04 XL interchangeability, looks the same. |

Hey Mm128... ...you'd be better off getting the XB covers for your X1 than just the chromed tops on two piece covers. You can barely see the top cover on a Buell anyway. If you chose to polish XB covers, the bling would show up a lot better. |

I sent the guy an email... we will see... I am heading home tonight to see HOW well the first cover polishes up... BAD THING... I can NOT get to the bottom cover without taking a WHOLE BUNCH of stuff apart... so.. I will have to wait till the heads are re-assembled and wet sande them... Matt. |
